But ^[a]a babbling fool will come to ruin.
⁹ One ^(F)who walks in integrity walks securely,
But ^(G)one who perverts his ways will be found out.
¹⁰ He ^(H)who winks the eye causes trouble,
And ^[b](I)a babbling fool will come to ruin.
¹¹ The ^(J)mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,
But ^(K)the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
¹² Hatred stirs up strife,
But ^(L)love covers all offenses.
¹³ On ^(M)the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found,
But ^(N)a rod is for the back of him who has no ^[c]sense.

¹⁸ One ^(A)who conceals hatred has lying lips,
And one who spreads slander is a fool.

¹³ One ^(A)who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets,
But one who is ^[a]trustworthy ^(B)conceals a matter.

⁵ The thoughts of the righteous are just,
But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
⁶ The ^(A)words of the wicked wait in ambush for blood,
But the ^(B)mouth of the upright will rescue them.

^13 [a]An evil person is ensnared by the offense of his lips,
But the ^(A)righteous will escape from trouble.

¹⁵ The ^(A)way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But a person who listens to advice is wise.
¹⁶ A ^(B)fool’s anger is known at once,
But a prudent person conceals dishonor.
¹⁷ One who declares truth tells what is right,
But a false witness, deceit.
¹⁸ There is one who ^(C)speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword,
But the ^(D)tongue of the wise brings healing.

²⁰ Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy.
^21 (A)No harm happens to the righteous,
But the wicked are filled with trouble.

²³ A ^(A)prudent person conceals knowledge,
But the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.

⁷ There is one who ^(A)pretends to be rich but has nothing;
Another pretends to be ^(B)poor, but has great wealth.
