³⁵ The wise are promoted to honor, but fools are promoted to shame!

^7-8 If you rebuke a mocker, you will only get a smart retort; yes, he will snarl at you. So don’t bother with him; he will only hate you for trying to help him. But a wise man, when rebuked, will love you all the more. ⁹ Teach a wise man, and he will be the wiser; teach a good man, and he will learn more.

¹⁴ A wise man holds his tongue. Only a fool blurts out everything he knows; that only leads to sorrow and trouble.

²⁹ The fool who provokes his family to anger and resentment will finally have nothing worthwhile left. He shall be the servant of a wiser man.

³ A rebel’s foolish talk should prick his own pride! But the wise man’s speech is respected.

¹⁶ A wise man is cautious and avoids danger; a fool plunges ahead with great confidence.
