¹⁸ but these lay in wait for their own blood.
    They lurk secretly for their own lives.
¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain.
    It takes away the life of its owners.

¹⁶ Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh,
    than great treasure with trouble.

²⁷ He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house,
    but he who hates bribes will live.

²⁶ There are those who covet greedily all day long;
    but the righteous give and don’t withhold.

¹⁶ Have you found honey?
    Eat as much as is sufficient for you,
    lest you eat too much, and vomit it.

²⁰ Sheol^[a] and Abaddon are never satisfied;
    and a man’s eyes are never satisfied.

⁶ Better is the poor who walks in his integrity,
    than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.

⁸ He who increases his wealth by excessive interest
    gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.

²² A stingy man hurries after riches,
    and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.
