Invitación de la sabiduría y de la necedad
9 La sabiduría construyó su casa
y labró sus siete pilares.
2 Preparó un banquete, mezcló su vino
y puso la mesa.
3 Envió a sus doncellas, y ahora clama
desde lo más alto de la ciudad.
4 «¡Venid conmigo los inexpertos!
—dice a los faltos de juicio—.
5 Venid, disfrutad de mi pan
y bebed del vino que he mezclado.
6 Dejad vuestra insensatez, y viviréis;
andaréis por el camino del discernimiento.
7 »El que corrige al burlón se gana que lo insulten;
el que reprende al malvado se gana su desprecio.
8 No reprendas al insolente, no sea que acabe por odiarte;
reprende al sabio, y te amará.
9 Instruye al sabio, y se hará más sabio;
enseña al justo, y aumentará su saber.
10 »El comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor del Señor;
conocer al Santo[a] es tener discernimiento.
11 Por mí aumentarán tus días;
muchos años de vida te serán añadidos.
12 Si eres sabio, tu premio será tu sabiduría;
si eres insolente, solo tú lo sufrirás».
13 La mujer necia es escandalosa,
frívola y desvergonzada.
14 Se sienta a las puertas de su casa,
se sienta en una silla en lo más alto de la ciudad,
15 y llama a los que van por el camino,
a los que no se apartan de su senda.
16 «¡Venid conmigo, inexpertos!
—dice a los faltos de juicio—.
17 ¡Las aguas robadas saben a gloria!
¡El pan sabe a miel si se come a escondidas!»
18 Pero estos ignoran que allí está la muerte,
que sus invitados caen al fondo de la fosa.

9 La sabiduría hizo una casa
y le puso siete columnas labradas.
2 Hizo además una fiesta,
en la que ofreció el mejor vino.
Una vez puesta la mesa,
3 mandó mensajeras
a la parte alta de la ciudad,
para que desde allí gritaran:
4 «Jovencitos sin experiencia,
ya que les falta entendimiento,
vengan conmigo.
5 Vengan a gozar de mi banquete;
beban del vino que he preparado.
6 Si realmente quieren vivir,
déjense de tonterías
y actúen con inteligencia.
7 »Si corriges a los burlones,
sólo ganarás que te insulten;
si reprendes a los malvados,
sólo te ganarás su desprecio.
8 No reprendas a los burlones,
o acabarán por odiarte;
mejor reprende a los sabios,
y acabarán por amarte.
9 Educa al sabio,
y aumentará su sabiduría;
enséñale algo al justo,
y aumentará su saber.
10 »Todo el que quiera ser sabio
que comience por obedecer a Dios;
conocer al Dios santo
es dar muestras de inteligencia.
11 Yo, la sabiduría,
te daré muchos años de vida.
12 Si eres sabio,
tú eres quien sale ganando;
pero si eres malcriado,
sufrirás las consecuencias».
13 La ignorancia es escandalosa,
tonta y sinvergüenza.
14 Cuando está en su casa,
se sienta a la entrada misma;
cuando está en la ciudad,
se sienta donde todos la vean,
15 y llama a los distraídos
que pasan por el camino:
16 «Jovencitos inexpertos,
faltos de entendimiento,
¡vengan conmigo!
17 ¡No hay nada más sabroso
que beber agua robada!
¡No hay pan que sepa tan dulce
como el que se come a escondidas!»
18 Pero estos tontos no saben
que esa casa es un cementerio;
¡no saben que sus invitados
ahora están en el fondo de la tumba!

9 Wisdom has built(A) her house;
she has set up[a] its seven pillars.
2 She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;(B)
she has also set her table.(C)
3 She has sent out her servants, and she calls(D)
from the highest point of the city,(E)
4 “Let all who are simple(F) come to my house!”
To those who have no sense(G) she says,
5 “Come,(H) eat my food
and drink the wine I have mixed.(I)
6 Leave your simple ways and you will live;(J)
walk in the way of insight.”(K)
7 Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.(L)
8 Do not rebuke mockers(M) or they will hate you;
rebuke the wise and they will love you.(N)
9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.(O)
10 The fear of the Lord(P) is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One(Q) is understanding.(R)
11 For through wisdom[b] your days will be many,
and years will be added to your life.(S)
12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;
if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.
13 Folly is an unruly woman;(T)
she is simple and knows nothing.(U)
14 She sits at the door of her house,
on a seat at the highest point of the city,(V)
15 calling out(W) to those who pass by,
who go straight on their way,
16 “Let all who are simple come to my house!”
To those who have no sense(X) she says,
17 “Stolen water is sweet;
food eaten in secret is delicious!(Y)”
18 But little do they know that the dead are there,
that her guests are deep in the realm of the dead.(Z)

9 Chochmah hath built her bais, she hath hewn out her seven ammudim;
2 She hath prepared her meat; she hath mixed her yayin; she hath also set her shulchan.
3 She hath sent forth her na’arot; she calleth from the highest points of the city;
4 Whosoever is simple, let him turn in here; as for him that lacketh lev (a heart of understanding), she saith to him,
5 Come, eat of my lechem, and drink of the yayin which I have mixed [Yn 6:53-54 OJBC].
6 Forsake the simple ways, and live; and go in the derech binah.
7 He that reproveth a letz (mocker) getteth to himself shame, and he that is a mochiach (reprover) of a wicked man getteth himself a blot stain.
8 Reprove not a letz, lest he hate thee; rebuke a chacham, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a chacham, and he will be yet wiser; teach a tzaddik, and he will increase in learning.
10 The Yirat Hashem is the beginning of chochmah, and the da’as Kedoshim (knowledge of the Holy One) is binah (understanding).
11 For by me thy yamim shall be multiplied, and shanot chayyim shall be increased to thee.
12 If thou be chacham, thou shalt be wise for thyself, but if thou mockest, thou alone shalt suffer.
13 Aishes Kesilut (Dame Folly) is clamorous; she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 For she sitteth at the petach (doorway) of her bais, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 To call those passing on the derech (road) who go straight on their way:
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in here, and as for him that lacketh lev (heart of understanding), she saith to him,
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and lechem eaten in secret is pleasant.
18 But he has no da’as that the dead ones are there; and that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
