29 El hombre que, al ser reprendido, se vuelve terco,
de repente y sin remedio será quebrantado.
2 Cuando los justos dominan, el pueblo se alegra;
cuando domina el malvado, el pueblo gime.
3 El hombre que ama la sabiduría alegra a su padre;
el que frecuenta rameras perderá los bienes.
4 El rey que actúa con justicia afirma el país;
el que sólo exige tributos, lo destruye.
5 El hombre que lisonjea a su prójimo
le tiende una red delante de sus pasos.
6 En la transgresión del hombre malo está su propia trampa,
pero el justo canta con alegría.
7 El justo está atento a la causa de los pobres;
el malvado no entiende que eso es sabiduría.
8 Los hombres escarnecedores alborotan la ciudad;
los sabios calman la ira.
9 Si el hombre sabio disputa con el necio,
sea que se enoje o que se ría, no tendrá reposo.
10 Los hombres sanguinarios aborrecen al íntegro,
pero los rectos procuran agradarle.
11 El necio da rienda suelta a toda su ira,
pero el sabio, al fin, la apacigua.
12 Si un gobernante hace caso a la mentira,
todos sus servidores serán malvados.
13 El pobre y el usurero tienen en común
que Jehová alumbra los ojos de ambos.
14 Para siempre será firme el trono del rey
que conforme a la verdad juzga a los pobres.
15 La vara y la corrección dan sabiduría,
pero el muchacho consentido avergüenza a su madre.
16 Cuando los malvados son muchos, mucha es la transgresión;
pero los justos verán la ruina de ellos.
17 Corrige a tu hijo y te dará descanso,
y dará alegría a tu alma.
18 Cuando falta la profecía, el pueblo se desenfrena,
pero el que guarda la Ley es bienaventurado.
19 Al siervo no se le corrige con palabras,
porque entiende, pero no hace caso.
20 ¿Has visto un hombre ligero de palabra?
Pues más puede esperarse de un necio que de él.
21 El siervo que desde la niñez es mimado por su amo,
a la postre será su heredero.
22 El hombre iracundo provoca contiendas;
el furioso, a menudo peca.
23 La soberbia del hombre le acarrea humillación,
pero al humilde de espíritu lo sustenta la honra.
24 El cómplice del ladrón se aborrece a sí mismo,
pues oye la maldición pero no le denuncia.
25 El temor del hombre le pone trampas;
el que confía en Jehová está a salvo.
26 Muchos buscan el favor del príncipe,
pero de Jehová procede la justicia para todos.
27 Abominable es para los justos el hombre inicuo,
y abominable es para el malvado el de caminos rectos.

29 You may warn a proud person many times, but he will not listen to you.
Trouble will suddenly happen to him and he will not escape.
2 When righteous people are doing well, everyone is happy.
But when wicked people rule, everyone is sad.
3 A man who loves wisdom makes his father happy.
But anyone who is a friend of prostitutes is wasting his father's money.
4 A king who rules with justice makes his country strong.
But a king who takes lots of taxes destroys his country.
5 If you always praise your friends with sweet words,
that will be a trap that you walk into yourself.
6 The sin of an evil person becomes a trap that catches him.
But a righteous person sings with joy.
7 Righteous people want poor people to receive justice.
But wicked people do not understand things like that.
8 People who insult their friends bring trouble to a city.
But wise people stop arguments.
9 If a wise person accuses a foolish person in court,
there will be no agreement.
The fool will only laugh or he will become angry.
10 Murderers hate honest people.
They try to kill any good person.
11 Foolish people cannot control their anger.
But wise people are patient.
12 When a ruler listens to lies,
all his officers will be wicked.
13 The Lord gives light to all people so that they can see.
He does that for poor people and also those who are cruel to them.
14 If a king judges poor people in a true way,
he will always have the power to rule.
15 If you want your children to be wise,
warn them and punish them when they do wrong things.
If you let them do anything that they want to do,
they will make their mother ashamed.
16 When wicked people receive more power, there is also more sin.
But those wicked people will fall while righteous people watch.
17 Warn your children when they do wrong things,
so that you have peace in your mind.
They will make you very happy.
18 If people do not hear God's message,
there is no law to control them.
But if someone obeys God's law,
he is in a happy place.
19 You must use more than words to show a servant what is right.
Even if he understands what you say, he will not obey you.
20 Do you know anyone who speaks before he thinks?
A foolish person is more likely to become wise than that person.
21 You may give a servant everything that he wants from his birth.
But if you do that, he will be useless in the end.
22 An angry person causes arguments.
When he is angry, he causes many sins to happen.
23 A person's pride will bring shame to him.
But a humble person will receive honour.
24 If you help a robber, you are bringing punishment on yourself.
If you tell the truth in court, or if you keep quiet,
you will receive your punishment.[a]
25 If you are afraid of what people think about you,
you will never feel safe.
But if you trust in the Lord,
he will keep you safe.
26 Many people want the king to be their friend.
But only the Lord can give you true justice.
27 Righteous people hate wicked people.
Wicked people also hate people who live in a good way.

- 29:24 In court, people had to ask God to curse them if they did not tell the truth. So the judge will punish you if you say that you helped a robber. God will punish you if you do not say anything.

3 A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father,(G)
but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.(H)
4 By justice a king gives a country stability,(I)
but those who are greedy for[a] bribes tear it down.
5 Those who flatter their neighbors
are spreading nets for their feet.(J)
6 Evildoers are snared by their own sin,(K)
but the righteous shout for joy and are glad.
7 The righteous care about justice for the poor,(L)
but the wicked have no such concern.
8 Mockers stir up a city,
but the wise turn away anger.(M)
9 If a wise person goes to court with a fool,
the fool rages and scoffs, and there is no peace.
10 The bloodthirsty hate a person of integrity
and seek to kill the upright.(N)
13 The poor and the oppressor have this in common:
The Lord gives sight to the eyes of both.(S)
14 If a king judges the poor with fairness,
his throne will be established forever.(T)
15 A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom,
but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.(U)
16 When the wicked thrive, so does sin,
but the righteous will see their downfall.(V)
17 Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
they will bring you the delights you desire.(W)
18 Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.(X)
19 Servants cannot be corrected by mere words;
though they understand, they will not respond.
20 Do you see someone who speaks in haste?
There is more hope for a fool than for them.(Y)
21 A servant pampered from youth
will turn out to be insolent.
22 An angry person stirs up conflict,
and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.(Z)
24 The accomplices of thieves are their own enemies;
they are put under oath and dare not testify.(AC)
27 The righteous detest the dishonest;
the wicked detest the upright.(AI)

29 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
4 The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the Lord lighteneth both their eyes.
14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
26 Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the Lord.
27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
