Segunda colección de dichos de Salomón
25 También éstos son dichos de Salomón, copiados por gente al servicio de Ezequías, rey de Judá:
2 Es gloria de Dios tener secretos,
y honra de los reyes penetrar en ellos.
3 La altura del cielo,
la profundidad de la tierra
y los pensamientos de los reyes,
son cosas en las que no es posible penetrar.
4 Aparta de la plata las impurezas,
y el platero producirá una copa;
5 aparta del servicio del rey al malvado,
y su trono se afirmará en la justicia.
6 No te des importancia ante el rey,
ni tomes el lugar de la gente importante;
7 vale más que te inviten a subir allí,
que ser humillado ante los grandes señores.
Lo que veas con tus propios ojos
8 no lo lleves en seguida a los tribunales,
porque otro testigo puede desmentirte
y al final no sabrás qué hacer.
9 Defiéndete de quien te acuse,
pero no descubras el secreto ajeno;
10 pues alguien puede oírte y ponerte en vergüenza,
y tu mala fama será cosa sin remedio.
11 Las palabras en el momento oportuno
son como manzanas de oro incrustadas en plata.
12 Como un anillo y un collar del oro más fino,
es la sabia reprensión en quien sabe recibirla.
13 El mensajero fiel es para el que lo envía
cual frescura de nieve en día caluroso,
pues da nuevos ánimos a su señor.
14 Nubes y viento y nada de lluvia,
es quien presume de dar y nunca da nada.
15 La paciencia calma el enojo;
las palabras suaves rompen la resistencia.
16 Si encuentras miel, no comas más de la cuenta,
no sea que de mucho comer la vomites.
17 Si visitas a tu amigo, no lo hagas con frecuencia,
no sea que se canse de ti y llegue a odiarte.
18 Mazo, espada, flecha puntiaguda,
¡eso es quien declara en falso contra su amigo!
19 Confiar en un traidor en momentos de angustia
es como andar con una pierna rota
o comer con un diente picado.
20 Cantar canciones al corazón afligido
es como echar vinagre en la llaga
o quitarse la ropa en tiempo de frío.
21 Si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer;
y si tiene sed, dale de beber;
22 así harás que le arda la cara de vergüenza,
y el Señor te lo pagará.
23 Por el viento del norte viene la lluvia,
y por las malas lenguas las malas caras.
24 Más vale vivir en el borde de la azotea,
que en una amplia mansión con una mujer pendenciera.
25 Como agua fresca en garganta sedienta
así caen las buenas noticias de tierras lejanas.
26 Manantial de agua turbia y revuelta
es el inocente que tiembla ante el culpable.
27 No hace bien comer mucha miel,
pero es una honra investigar lo difícil.
28 Como ciudad sin muralla y expuesta al peligro,
así es quien no sabe dominar sus impulsos.

25 La siguiente lista de proverbios de Salomón fue preparada por los servidores de Ezequías, rey de Judá.
2 A Dios lo alabamos
porque vive en el misterio;
al rey lo respetamos
porque trata de entenderlo.
3 El cielo está allá arriba,
la tierra está aquí abajo,
pero la mente de los reyes
nadie sabe dónde está.
4 En cuanto el joyero
limpia de impurezas la plata,
puede hacer una copa.
5 En cuanto el rey
limpia de malvados el reino,
puede hacer justicia.
6 Cuando estés ante el rey,
no te sientas importante
ni te des aires de grandeza.
7 Vale más que el propio rey
te diga dónde sentarte,
y no que pases vergüenza
ante sus invitados.
Si de algo eres testigo,
8 no vayas corriendo a los tribunales,
no sea que, al fin de cuentas,
otro testigo lo niegue
y te ponga en vergüenza.
9 Defiéndete si es necesario,
pero no le cuentes a nadie
lo que otros te han confiado,
10 no sea que alguien te oiga
y te ponga en vergüenza,
y te ganes mala fama.
11 Las palabras dichas a tiempo
son como manzanas de oro
con adornos de plata.
12 Para quien sabe apreciarla,
una sabia reprensión vale tanto
como una joya de oro muy fino.
13 Tan refrescante
como apagar tu sed
con un vaso de agua fresca,
es contar con un amigo
a quien puedes confiarle un mensaje.
14 Hay quienes hablan de dar
y nunca dan nada.
Son como las nubes oscuras,
que anuncian lluvia...
¡y no llueve!
15 La paciencia vence toda resistencia.
La cortesía vence toda oposición.
16 Si encuentras miel,
no comas demasiada;
la mucha miel empalaga.
17 Con los amigos, guarda tu distancia;
visitarlos demasiado ya es molestia.
18 Quien habla mal de su amigo
lo hiere más que una espada.
19 Confiar en gente traicionera
cuando se tienen problemas,
es peor que comer con dolor de muelas
o caminar con una pierna rota.
20 Nadie cura con vinagre una herida,
ni anda desnudo en el frío,
ni les canta canciones
a los que están afligidos.
21 Si tu enemigo tiene hambre,
dale de comer;
y si tiene sed, dale de beber.
22 Así Dios te premiará,
y harás que a tu enemigo
le arda la cara de vergüenza.
23 El viento del norte hace llover,
y las malas lenguas hacen enojar.
24 Más vale vivir
en un rincón del patio
que dentro de un palacio
con una persona agresiva.
25 Con qué gusto se recibe
el agua fresca cuando se tiene sed;
así se reciben las buenas noticias
que vienen de tierras lejanas.
26 Cuando el hombre bueno
se rinde ante el malvado,
se contamina como un río
al que se arrojan desperdicios.
27 Tan malo es comer mucha miel,
como recibir muchos halagos.

25 Edhe këto janë fjalë të urta të Salomonit, të transkriptuara nga njerëzit e Ezekias, mbretit të Judës.
2 Éshtë lavdi e Perëndisë të fshehësh një gjë, por është lavdi e mbretërve ta hetosh atë.

King James Version
25 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.
23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
