24 No tengas envidia de los malvados(A),
Ni desees estar con ellos(B);
2 Porque su corazón trama violencia(C),
Y sus labios hablan de hacer mal(D).
3 ¶Con sabiduría se edifica una casa(E),
Y con prudencia se afianza;
4 Con conocimiento se llenan las cámaras
De todo bien preciado y deseable(F).
5 ¶El hombre sabio es fuerte[a](G),
Y el hombre de conocimiento aumenta[b] su poder.
6 Porque con dirección sabia harás la guerra[c](H),
Y en la abundancia de consejeros está la victoria[d](I).
7 ¶Muy alta está la sabiduría para el necio(J),
En la puerta(K) de la ciudad no abre su boca.
8 ¶Al que planea hacer el mal(L),
Lo llamarán intrigante.
9 El tramar necedad es pecado(M),
Y el insolente es abominación a los hombres.
10 ¶Si eres débil(N) en día de angustia,
Tu fuerza es limitada.
11 ¶Libra a los que son llevados a la muerte,
Y retén a los que van con pasos vacilantes a la matanza(O).
12 Si dices: «Mira, no sabíamos esto».
¿No lo tiene en cuenta el(P) que sondea[e] los corazones(Q)?
¿No lo sabe(R) el que guarda tu alma(S)?
¿No dará[f] a cada hombre según su obra(T)?
13 ¶Come miel(U), hijo mío, porque es buena;
Sí, la miel del panal es dulce(V) a tu paladar.
14 Debes saber que así es la sabiduría para tu alma(W);
Si la hallas, entonces habrá un futuro[g],
Y tu esperanza no será cortada(X).
15 ¶No aceches(Y), oh impío, la morada del justo;
No destruyas su lugar de descanso;
16 Porque el justo cae siete veces, y vuelve a levantarse(Z),
Pero los impíos caerán en la desgracia(AA).
17 ¶No te regocijes cuando caiga tu enemigo,
Y no se alegre tu corazón cuando tropiece(AB);
18 No sea que el Señor lo vea y le desagrade[h],
Y aparte de él Su ira.
19 ¶No te impacientes a causa de los malhechores(AC)
Ni tengas envidia de los impíos(AD);
20 Porque no habrá futuro[i](AE) para el malo.
La lámpara de los impíos será apagada(AF).
21 ¶Hijo mío, teme[j] al Señor y al rey(AG);
No te asocies con los que son inestables;
22 Porque de repente se levantará su desgracia(AH),
Y la destrucción que vendrá de ambos, ¿quién la sabe?
23 ¶También estos son dichos de los sabios(AI):
«Hacer acepción de personas[k] en el juicio no es bueno(AJ)».
24 Al que dice al impío: «Eres justo(AK)»,
Lo maldecirán los pueblos, lo aborrecerán las naciones(AL);
25 Pero los que lo reprenden tendrán felicidad(AM),
Y sobre ellos vendrá abundante bendición.
26 Besa los labios
El que da una respuesta correcta[l].
27 ¶Ordena tus labores de fuera
Y tenlas listas para ti en el campo,
Y después edifica tu casa(AN).
28 ¶No seas, sin causa, testigo contra tu prójimo(AO),
Y no engañes con tus labios(AP).
29 No digas: «Como él me ha hecho, así le haré;
Pagaré[m] al hombre según su obra(AQ)».
30 ¶He pasado junto al campo del perezoso
Y junto a la viña del hombre falto de entendimiento[n](AR),
31 Y vi que todo estaba lleno de cardos(AS),
Su superficie cubierta de ortigas(AT),
Y su cerca de piedras, derribada(AU).
32 Cuando lo vi, reflexioné[o] sobre ello;
Miré, y recibí instrucción.
33 «(AV)Un poco de dormir, otro poco de dormitar,
Otro poco de cruzar las manos para descansar»,
34 Y llegará tu pobreza como ladrón[p],
Y tu necesidad como hombre armado[q].

24 Avundas inte onda människor
och längta inte efter att vara med dem.
2 Deras hjärtan tänker på våld,
deras läppar talar olycka.
3 Genom vishet byggs huset,
genom förstånd hålls det vid makt.
4 Genom kunskap fylls rummen
med allt som är dyrbart och ljuvligt.
5 En vis man är stark,
en man med kunskap är väldig i kraft.
6 Genom skicklig ledning kan du föra krig,
många goda rådgivare ger seger.
7 Visheten är för hög för dåren,
i porten öppnar han ej sin mun.
8 Den som tänker ut onda planer,
han skall kallas intrigmakare.
9 Dårskapens påfund är synd,
och bespottaren möter avsky bland människor.
10 Låter du modet falla i nödens stund,
då blir din kraft ringa.
11 Rädda dem som släpas till döden
och drag dig inte undan dem som stapplar till avrättningsplatsen.
12 Om du säger: "Vi visste det inte",
skulle inte han som prövar hjärtan märka det,
skulle inte han som vakar över din själ veta det?
Han skall vedergälla var och en efter hans gärningar.
13 Ät honung, min son, det är gott,
självrunnen honung är söt för din gom.
14 Så är kunskap och vishet för din själ.
Om du finner dem, har du en framtid,
och ditt hopp blir ej om intet.
15 Ligg inte på lur, du ogudaktige, vid den rättfärdiges boning,
ödelägg inte hans hem.
16 Ty den rättfärdige kan falla sju gånger och resa sig igen,
men de ogudaktiga stupar när olyckan kommer.
17 Gläd dig inte när din fiende faller,
låt ej ditt hjärta fröjdas när han störtar omkull,
18 så att Herren ser det med misshag
och vänder sin vrede från honom.
19 Harmas inte över de onda,
avundas inte de ogudaktiga.
20 Ty den som är ond har ingen framtid,
de ogudaktigas lampa skall slockna.
21 Min son, frukta Herren och kungen,
ge dig inte i lag med upprorsmän.
22 Ty plötsligt kan olycka komma över dem,
och vem vet när ödeläggelse från dessa båda kommer?

23 Dessa ord är också av visa män.
Att ha anseende till personen när man dömer är orätt.
24 Den som säger till den skyldige: "Du är oskyldig",
honom skall folk förbanna
och nationer fördöma.
25 Men dem som skipar rättvisa skall det gå väl,
de skall bli välsignade med goda ting.
26 En kyss på läpparna är det,
när någon ger ett rätt svar.
27 Fullgör ditt arbete på marken,
gör allting klart åt dig på åkern.
Sedan kan du bygga dig ett hus.
28 Vittna inte mot din nästa utan orsak,
inte vill du bedra någon med dina läppar?
29 Säg inte: "Vad han har gjort mot mig skall jag göra mot honom,
jag skall ge var och en vad han förtjänat."
30 Jag gick förbi en lat mans åker,
en oförståndig människas vingård.
31 Och se, tistlar hade växt upp överallt,
marken var täckt av nässlor,
stenmuren låg nerriven.
32 Jag såg det och tog det till hjärtat,
jag betraktade det och tog lärdom av det.
33 Sov ännu något, slumra lite till,
lägg ännu en tid armarna i kors för att vila,
34 så kommer fattigdomen över dig som en lösdrivare
och armodet som en väpnad man.

24 No envidies a los malvados
ni procures su compañía;
2 porque en su corazón planean violencia
y no hablan más que de cometer fechorías.

3 Con sabiduría se construye la casa;
con inteligencia se echan los cimientos.
4 Con buen juicio se llenan sus cuartos
de bellos y extraordinarios tesoros.
22
5 El que es sabio tiene gran poder
y el que es entendido aumenta su fuerza.
6 La guerra se hace con buena estrategia;
la victoria se alcanza con muchos consejeros.

7 La sabiduría no está al alcance del necio,
en los tribunales del pueblo[a] nada tiene que decir.

8 Al que hace planes malvados
lo llamarán conspirador.
9 Las intrigas del necio son pecado
y todos aborrecen a los insolentes.
25
10 Si en el día de la aflicción te desanimas,
muy limitada es tu fortaleza.
11 Rescata a los que van rumbo a la muerte;
detén a los que a tumbos avanzan al suplicio.
12 Pues aunque digas: «Yo no lo sabía»,
¿no habrá de darse cuenta el que examina los corazones?
¿No habrá de saberlo el que vigila tu vida?
¡Él paga a cada uno según sus acciones!

13 Come la miel, hijo mío, que es deliciosa;
dulce al paladar es la miel del panal.
14 Ten en cuenta que así es la sabiduría a tu alma;
si das con ella, tendrás buen futuro;
tendrás una esperanza que no será destruida.

15 No aceches cual malvado la casa del justo
ni arrases el lugar donde habita;
16 porque siete veces podrá caer el justo,
pero otras tantas se levantará;
los malvados, en cambio,
se hundirán en la desgracia.

17 No te alegres cuando caiga tu enemigo
ni se regocije tu corazón ante su desgracia,
18 no sea que el Señor lo vea y no lo apruebe,
y aparte de él su enojo.

19 No te alteres por causa de los malvados
ni sientas envidia de los impíos,
20 porque el malvado no tiene porvenir;
¡la lámpara del impío se apagará!
30
21 Hijo mío, teme al Señor y honra al rey
y no te juntes con los rebeldes,
22 porque de los dos recibirás un castigo repentino
¡y quién sabe qué calamidades sobrevendrán!

23 También estos son dichos de los sabios:
No es correcto ser parcial en el juicio.
24 Quien declare inocente al culpable
lo maldecirán los pueblos y lo despreciarán las naciones.
25 Pero serán bien vistos y bendecidos
los que condenen al culpable.
26 Una respuesta sincera
es como un beso en los labios.
27 Prepara primero tus faenas de cultivo
y ten listos tus campos para la siembra;
después de eso, construye tu casa.
28 No testifiques sin razón contra tu prójimo
ni mientas con tus labios.
29 No digas: «Le haré lo mismo que me hizo;
me desquitaré por lo que me hizo».
30 Pasé por el campo del perezoso,
por la viña del falto de juicio.
31 Había espinas por todas partes;
la hierba cubría el terreno
y el lindero de piedras estaba en ruinas.
32 Guardé en mi corazón lo observado
y de lo visto saqué una lección:
33 Un corto sueño, una breve siesta,
un pequeño descanso, cruzado de brazos…
34 ¡y te asaltará la pobreza como un bandido,
y la escasez como un hombre armado!

24 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
