Ante Dios, humildad
21 En las manos de Dios
los planes del rey
son como un río:
toman el curso
que Dios quiere darles.
2 Todo el mundo cree hacer lo mejor,
pero Dios juzga las intenciones.
3 Más que recibir ofrendas y sacrificios,
Dios prefiere que se haga justicia
y que se practique la honradez.
4 Hay tres cosas que son pecado:
ser orgulloso,
creerse muy inteligente,
y vivir como un malvado.
5 Cuando las cosas se piensan bien,
el resultado es provechoso.
Cuando se hacen a la carrera,
el resultado es desastroso.
6 Las riquezas que amontona el mentiroso
se desvanecen como el humo;
son una trampa mortal.
7 La violencia destruye a los malvados
porque se niegan a hacer justicia.
8 Quien mal se comporta,
lleva una vida difícil;
quien vive honradamente
lleva una vida sin problemas.
9 Más vale vivir
en un rincón del patio,
que dentro de un palacio
con una persona peleona.
10 El malvado sólo piensa en el mal,
y hasta con sus amigos es malvado.
11 Jóvenes sin experiencia,
acepten el consejo de los sabios,
y aprendan del castigo a los malcriados.
12 Dios es justo, y sabe bien
lo que piensa el malvado;
por eso acaba por destruirlo.
13 Quien no hace caso
de las súplicas del pobre,
un día pedirá ayuda
y nadie se la dará.
14 Un buen regalo calma el enojo,
si se da en el momento oportuno.
15 El hombre honrado es feliz
cuando ve que se hace justicia,
¡pero cómo se asusta el malvado!
16 Quien deja de hacer lo bueno,
pronto termina en la tumba.
17 Quien sólo piensa en fiestas,
en perfumes y en borracheras,
se queda en la pobreza
y jamás llega a rico.
18 Los malvados y ladrones
tendrán que pagar el rescate
de los hombres buenos y honrados.
19 Vale más la soledad
que la vida matrimonial
con una persona agresiva
y de mal genio.
20 En casa del sabio
hay riquezas y perfumes;
en casa del tonto
sólo hay desperdicios.
21 Busca la justicia y el amor,
y encontrarás vida,
justicia y riquezas.
22 Basta un solo sabio
para conquistar una gran ciudad.
23 Quien tiene cuidado de lo que dice
nunca se mete en problemas.
24 Qué bien le queda al orgulloso
que lo llamen «¡malcriado y vanidoso!»
25-26 El perezoso quiere de todo,
lo que no quiere es trabajar.
El hombre honrado siempre da
y no pide nada a cambio.
27 Dios no soporta a los malvados
que le traen ofrendas,
y no son sinceros.
28 El testigo falso será destruido,
pero al testigo verdadero
siempre se le da la palabra.
29 El malvado parece estar muy seguro;
pero sólo el hombre honrado
está seguro de verdad.
30 Reconozcamos que ante Dios,
no hay sabiduría
ni conocimiento,
ni consejos que valgan.
31 A los soldados les toca
preparar sus caballos para el combate;
pero Dios es quien decide
a quién darle la victoria.

21 Ang isipan ng hari ay parang ilog na pinapadaloy ng Panginoon saan man niya naisin.
2 Inaakala ng tao na tama ang lahat ng kanyang ginagawa, ngunit ang Panginoon lang ang nakakaalam kung ano ang ating motibo.
3 Ang paggawa ng matuwid at makatarungan ay kalugod-lugod sa Panginoon kaysa sa paghahandog.
4 Ang mapagmataas na tingin at palalong isipan ay kasalanan. Ganyan ang ugali ng mga taong makasalanan.
5 Ang gawaing plinanong mabuti at pinagsikapan ay patungo sa kaunlaran, ngunit ang gawaing padalos-dalos ay maghahatid ng karalitaan.
6 Ang kayamanang nakuha sa pandaraya ay madaling mawala at maaaring humantong sa maagang kamatayan.
7 Ang karahasan ng masasama ang magpapahamak sa kanila, sapagkat ayaw nilang gawin ang tama.
8 Hindi matuwid ang gawain ng taong may kasalanan, ngunit matuwid ang gawain ng taong walang kasalanan.
9 Mas mabuti pang tumirang mag-isa sa bubungan ng bahay[a] kaysa sa loob ng bahay na ang kasama ay asawang palaaway.
10 Ang masasama ay laging gustong gumawa ng masama at sa kanilang kapwa ay wala silang awa.
11 Kapag ang manunuya ay pinarusahan mo, ang mga mangmang ay matututo. Kapag ang marunong naman ang tinuruan mo, lalo pa siyang magiging matalino.
12 Alam ng matuwid na Dios kung ano ang ginagawa ng sambahayan ng masasama, at parurusahan niya sila.
13 Ang hindi pumansin sa daing ng mahirap, kapag siya naman ang dumaing ay walang lilingap.
14 Kapag ang kapwa mo ay may galit sa iyo, mawawala iyon sa palihim na regalo.
15 Kapag katarungan ang umiiral, ang mga matuwid ay natutuwa, ngunit natatakot ang masasama.
16 Ang taong lumilihis sa karunungan ay hahantong sa kamatayan.
17 Ang taong maluho at puro pagdiriwang ay hindi yayaman kundi lalo pang maghihirap.
18 Pinarurusahan ang masasama at makasalanan upang iligtas ang taong matuwid.
19 Mas mabuti pang manirahan sa disyerto kaysa manirahan sa bahay na kasama ang asawang magagalitin at palaaway.
20 Ang taong marunong ay pinaghahandaan ang kanyang kinabukasan, ngunit ang mangmang, winawaldas ang lahat hanggang sa maubusan.

23 Ang taong nag-iingat sa kanyang mga sinasabi ay nakakaiwas sa gulo.

25 Kung marami kang ninanais ngunit tamad kang magtrabaho, iyon ang sisira sa iyo.
26 Ang taong tamad ay laging naghahangad na makatanggap, ngunit ang taong matuwid ay nagbibigay nang walang alinlangan.
27 Kinasusuklaman ng Panginoon ang handog ng taong masama, lalo na kung ihahandog niya ito ng may layuning masama.
28 Patitigilin sa pagsasalita ang saksing sinungaling, ngunit ang saksing nagsasabi ng katotohanan ay pakikinggan.
29 Ang taong masama ay hindi pinag-iisipan ang kanyang ginagawa, ngunit ang taong matuwid ay pinag-iisipan muna nang mabuti ang kanyang ginagawa.
30 Walang karunungan, pang-unawa o payo ang makakapantay sa Panginoon.
31 Kahit nakahanda na ang mga kabayo para sa labanan, ang Panginoon pa rin ang nagbibigay ng katagumpayan.

21 In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water
that he channels toward all who please him.(A)
2 A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart.(B)
3 To do what is right and just
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.(C)
4 Haughty eyes(D) and a proud heart—
the unplowed field of the wicked—produce sin.
5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit(E)
as surely as haste leads to poverty.
7 The violence of the wicked will drag them away,(G)
for they refuse to do what is right.
8 The way of the guilty is devious,(H)
but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
9 Better to live on a corner of the roof
than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.(I)
10 The wicked crave evil;
their neighbors get no mercy from them.
11 When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom;
by paying attention to the wise they get knowledge.(J)
14 A gift given in secret soothes anger,
and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.(N)
15 When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous
but terror to evildoers.(O)
16 Whoever strays from the path of prudence
comes to rest in the company of the dead.(P)
17 Whoever loves pleasure will become poor;
whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich.(Q)
18 The wicked become a ransom(R) for the righteous,
and the unfaithful for the upright.
19 Better to live in a desert
than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife.(S)
20 The wise store up choice food and olive oil,
but fools gulp theirs down.
22 One who is wise can go up against the city of the mighty(V)
and pull down the stronghold in which they trust.
24 The proud and arrogant person(Y)—“Mocker” is his name—
behaves with insolent fury.
25 The craving of a sluggard will be the death of him,(Z)
because his hands refuse to work.
26 All day long he craves for more,
but the righteous(AA) give without sparing.(AB)
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable(AC)—
how much more so when brought with evil intent!(AD)
29 The wicked put up a bold front,
but the upright give thought to their ways.(AG)
31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the Lord.(AJ)
