19 Mejor es el pobre que camina en integridad,
Que el de perversos labios y fatuo.
2 El alma sin ciencia no es buena,
Y aquel que se apresura con los pies, peca.
3 La insensatez del hombre tuerce su camino,
Y luego contra Jehová se irrita su corazón.
4 Las riquezas traen muchos amigos;
Mas el pobre es apartado de su amigo.
5 El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo,
Y el que habla mentiras no escapará.
6 Muchos buscan el favor del generoso,
Y cada uno es amigo del hombre que da.
7 Todos los hermanos del pobre le aborrecen;
¡Cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él!
Buscará la palabra, y no la hallará.
8 El que posee entendimiento ama su alma;
El que guarda la inteligencia hallará el bien.
9 El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo,
Y el que habla mentiras perecerá.
10 No conviene al necio el deleite;
¡Cuánto menos al siervo ser señor de los príncipes!
11 La cordura del hombre detiene su furor,
Y su honra es pasar por alto la ofensa.
12 Como rugido de cachorro de león es la ira del rey,
Y su favor como el rocío sobre la hierba.
13 Dolor es para su padre el hijo necio,
Y gotera continua las contiendas de la mujer.
14 La casa y las riquezas son herencia de los padres;
Mas de Jehová la mujer prudente.
15 La pereza hace caer en profundo sueño,
Y el alma negligente padecerá hambre.
16 El que guarda el mandamiento guarda su alma;
Mas el que menosprecia sus caminos morirá.
17 A Jehová presta el que da al pobre,
Y el bien que ha hecho, se lo volverá a pagar.
18 Castiga a tu hijo en tanto que hay esperanza;
Mas no se apresure tu alma para destruirlo.
19 El de grande ira llevará la pena;
Y si usa de violencias, añadirá nuevos males.
20 Escucha el consejo, y recibe la corrección,
Para que seas sabio en tu vejez.
21 Muchos pensamientos hay en el corazón del hombre;
Mas el consejo de Jehová permanecerá.
22 Contentamiento es a los hombres hacer misericordia;
Pero mejor es el pobre que el mentiroso.
23 El temor de Jehová es para vida,
Y con él vivirá lleno de reposo el hombre;
No será visitado de mal.
24 El perezoso mete su mano en el plato,
Y ni aun a su boca la llevará.
25 Hiere al escarnecedor, y el simple se hará avisado;
Y corrigiendo al entendido, entenderá ciencia.
26 El que roba a su padre y ahuyenta a su madre,
Es hijo que causa vergüenza y acarrea oprobio.
27 Cesa, hijo mío, de oír las enseñanzas
Que te hacen divagar de las razones de sabiduría.
28 El testigo perverso se burlará del juicio,
Y la boca de los impíos encubrirá la iniquidad.
29 Preparados están juicios para los escarnecedores,
Y azotes para las espaldas de los necios.

19 Más vale ser pobre e intachable
que necio de labios perversos.
2 El afán sin conocimiento no es bueno;
mucho yerra quien mucho corre.
3 La necedad del hombre le hace perder el rumbo
y su corazón se irrita contra el Señor.
4 Con las riquezas aumentan los amigos,
pero al pobre hasta su amigo lo abandona.
5 El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo;
el que propaga mentiras no saldrá bien librado.
6 Muchos buscan congraciarse con los poderosos;
todos son amigos de quienes reparten regalos.
7 Si al pobre lo aborrecen sus parientes,
con más razón lo evitan sus amigos.
Aunque los busca suplicante,
por ninguna parte los encuentra.[a]
8 El que adquiere cordura,[b] se ama a sí mismo
y el que retiene el discernimiento prospera.
9 El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo;
el que propaga mentiras perecerá.
10 No va bien con el necio vivir entre lujos
y menos con el esclavo gobernar a los príncipes.
11 El buen juicio hace al hombre paciente;
su gloria es pasar por alto la ofensa.
12 Rugido de león es la ira del rey;
su favor es como rocío sobre el pasto.
13 El hijo necio es la ruina del padre;
la mujer pendenciera es gotera constante.
14 La casa y el dinero se heredan de los padres,
pero la esposa inteligente es un don del Señor.
15 La pereza conduce al sueño profundo;
el holgazán pasará hambre.
16 El que cumple el mandamiento cumple consigo mismo;
el que descuida su conducta morirá.
17 Servir al pobre es hacerle un préstamo al Señor;
Dios pagará esas buenas acciones.
18 Corrige a tu hijo mientras aún hay esperanza;
no te hagas cómplice de su muerte.[c]
19 El iracundo tendrá que afrontar el castigo;
el que intente disuadirlo aumentará su enojo.[d]
20 Escucha el consejo, acepta la corrección
y llegarás a ser sabio.
21 Muchos son los planes en el corazón de las personas,
pero al final prevalecen los designios del Señor.
22 De la humanidad se espera amor fiel;
más vale ser pobre que mentiroso.
23 El temor del Señor conduce a la vida;
da un sueño tranquilo y evita los problemas.
24 El perezoso mete la mano en el plato,
pero no llevará el bocado a la boca.
25 Golpea al insolente y se hará prudente el inexperto;
reprende al entendido y ganará en conocimiento.
26 El que roba a su padre y echa a la calle a su madre
es un hijo infame y sinvergüenza.
27 Hijo mío, si dejas de atender a las enseñanzas,
te apartarás de las palabras sabias.
28 El testigo corrupto se burla de la justicia
y la boca del malvado engulle maldad.
29 El castigo se dispuso para los insolentes
y los azotes para la espalda de los necios.

19 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity,
than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good;
and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way:
and his heart fretteth against the Lord.
4 Wealth maketh many friends;
but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished,
and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince:
and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him:
how much more do his friends go far from him?
he pursueth them with words,
yet they are wanting to him.
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul:
he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished,
and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10 Delight is not seemly for a fool;
much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger;
and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion;
but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father:
and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers:
and a prudent wife is from the Lord.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep;
and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;
but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord;
and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18 Chasten thy son while there is hope,
and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment:
for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction,
that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 There are many devices in a man’s heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.
22 The desire of a man is his kindness:
and a poor man is better than a liar.
23 The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied;
he shall not be visited with evil.
24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom,
and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware:
and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother,
is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction
that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment:
and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners,
and stripes for the back of fools.

21 Many plans are in a person’s heart,

24 The slacker buries his hand in the bowl;

25 Strike a mocker, and the inexperienced learn a lesson;(AI)

is a disgraceful and shameful son.
27 If you stop listening to correction, my son,
you will stray from the words of knowledge.
28 A worthless witness mocks justice,
and a wicked mouth swallows iniquity.(AK)
