Proverbios 19
Dios Habla Hoy
19 Más vale ser pobre y honrado,
que necio y calumniador.
2 No es bueno el afán sin reflexión;
las muchas prisas provocan errores.
3 La necedad del hombre le hace perder el camino,
y luego el hombre le echa la culpa al Señor.
4 La riqueza atrae multitud de amigos,
pero el pobre hasta sus amigos pierde.
5 El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo;
el mentiroso no saldrá bien librado.
6 Al que es dadivoso y desprendido,
todo el mundo lo busca y se hace su amigo.
7 Si al pobre hasta sus hermanos lo desprecian,
con mayor razón sus amigos se alejarán de él.
8 El que aprende y pone en práctica lo aprendido,
se estima a sí mismo y prospera.
9 El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo;
al mentiroso le espera la muerte.
10 No es propio del necio hacer derroche de lujos,
ni mucho menos del esclavo gobernar a grandes señores.
11 La prudencia consiste en refrenar el enojo,
y la honra, en pasar por alto la ofensa.
12 La ira del rey es como el rugido del león,
pero su buena voluntad es como rocío sobre la hierba.
13 Un hijo necio hace sufrir a su padre.
Como gotera constante es la mujer pendenciera.
14 De los padres se reciben casa y riquezas;
del Señor, la esposa inteligente.
15 La pereza hace dormir profundamente,
y el perezoso habrá de pasar hambre.
16 El que cumple el mandamiento protege su vida;
el que desprecia la enseñanza del Señor, muere.
17 Un préstamo al pobre es un préstamo al Señor,
y el Señor mismo pagará la deuda.
18 Corrige a tu hijo mientras aún pueda ser corregido,
pero procura no matarlo a causa del castigo.
19 El que mucho se enoja, recibe su merecido;
librarlo del castigo es empeorar las cosas.
20 Atiende al consejo y acepta la corrección;
así llegarás a ser sabio.
21 El hombre hace muchos planes,
pero sólo se realiza el propósito divino.
22 Lo que se quiere del hombre es lealtad;
más vale ser pobre que tramposo.
23 La reverencia al Señor conduce a la vida;
uno vive contento y sin sufrir ningún mal.
24 El perezoso mete la mano en el plato,
pero no es capaz ni de llevársela a la boca.
25 Del castigo al insolente, el imprudente aprende;
el sabio aprende con la sola corrección.
26 Maltratar al padre y echar de la casa a la madre
son actos vergonzosos y reprobables en un hijo.
27 Hijo mío, si dejas de atender a la reprensión
te apartarás de los buenos consejos.
28 El testigo falso se burla de la justicia;
el malvado lanza maldad por la boca.
29 Listas están las varas para los insolentes;
los buenos azotes para la espalda de los necios.

19 Thà nghèo mà sống thanh liêm,
Còn hơn có môi miệng gian xảo và làm một kẻ dại.
2 Nhiệt thành nhưng thiếu tri thức thì không tốt;
Vội vàng làm nhưng chưa suy nghĩ kỹ chỉ làm hỏng việc[a] mà thôi.
3 Kẻ dại làm theo sự dại dột mình và thất bại;
Rồi nổi giận trong lòng và oán trách Chúa.
4 Khi giàu sang có lắm người xin kết bạn,
Lúc khó nghèo bạn hữu đều lìa bỏ lánh xa.
5 Kẻ làm chứng gian ắt phải mang hình phạt;
Kẻ nói dối không thoát khỏi bị sửa trị đâu.
6 Người quyền quý tốt bụng sẽ được nhiều người tìm xin ân huệ;
Người rộng rãi ban cho ai cũng mong được là bạn của mình.
7 Người nghèo khó ngay cả bà con ruột thịt còn xa lánh,
Huống chi là bị bạn bè lìa bỏ;
Khi người ấy đuổi theo xin giúp đỡ, họ đều đã cao bay xa chạy.
8 Ai tìm kiếm khôn ngoan là yêu mến linh hồn mình;
Ai giữ lấy thông sáng ắt sẽ được thịnh vượng.
9 Kẻ làm chứng gian ắt phải mang hình phạt,
Kẻ nói dối sớm muộn gì cũng sẽ bị tàn mạt tiêu vong.
10 Vinh hoa phú quý thật không xứng với kẻ rồ dại;
Tôi tớ mà cai trị người quyền quý lại càng không xứng hợp.
11 Người khôn ngoan thường hay chậm giận,
Người ấy lấy làm vinh hạnh bỏ qua lầm lỗi của người ta.
12 Vua giận dữ thét la như sư tử rống,
Lúc nguôi ngoai ban ân điển giống sương móc đồng xanh.
13 Con ngu muội là tai họa cho cha nó;
Vợ hay cãi khác nào nhà bị dột mãi khi trời mưa.
14 Nhà cửa và tài sản là cơ nghiệp do cha mẹ để lại;
Nhưng người vợ khôn ngoan thì do Chúa ban cho.
15 Kẻ biếng nhác ham mê ngủ nghỉ;
Kẻ biếng lười bị đói khổ triền miên.
16 Ai vâng giữ điều răn gìn giữ mạng sống mình;
Kẻ khinh thường đường lối mình ắt sẽ chết chắc.
17 Ai thương xót người nghèo là cho Chúa vay mượn;
Ngài sẽ trả lại đầy đủ việc phước thiện người ấy làm.
18 Hãy sửa trị con bạn khi còn tia hy vọng;
Nhưng lòng bạn đừng mong nó bị diệt vong.
19 Người giận dữ thái quá ắt chuốc lấy hình phạt;
Nếu bạn cứu người ấy lần này, hãy chuẩn bị để cứu lại lần sau.
20 Hãy lắng nghe lời khuyên bảo và hãy lãnh hội lời giáo huấn,
Ðể có được khôn ngoan hầu biết ứng biến trong tương lai.
21 Lòng người ta nghĩ ra nhiều mưu kế,
Nhưng chỉ ý định của Chúa mới đứng vững mà thôi.
22 Ðiều mong ước ở một người là lòng trung nghĩa của người ấy;
Thà làm một người nghèo hơn làm một kẻ nói dối.
23 Lòng kính sợ Chúa dẫn đến sự sống,
Có nó ở cùng thì sẽ được thỏa mãn và không bị chiếu cố bởi tai ương.
24 Kẻ biếng nhác chôn tay mình trong dĩa,
Không nhấc nổi tay lên đưa thức ăn vào miệng.
25 Ðánh kẻ nhạo báng, kẻ khờ khạo sẽ học được thận trọng;
Quở người thông sáng, người ấy sẽ lãnh hội thêm tri thức.
26 Kẻ đánh cha đuổi mẹ là đứa con bất hiếu.
Ấy là đứa con gây xấu hổ và sỉ nhục.
27 Con ơi, khi con không muốn nghe những lời chỉ dạy nữa,
Con sẽ lạc xa những lời của tri thức.
28 Kẻ làm chứng dối nhạo báng công lý;
Miệng kẻ gian tà ăn ngấu nghiến tội lỗi.
29 Các án phạt dành cho phường nhạo báng,
Các đòn roi dành cho lưng bọn điên rồ.

King James Version
19 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the Lord.
4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.
22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23 The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

19 Better (A)is the poor who walks in his integrity
Than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge,
And he sins who hastens with his feet.
3 The foolishness of a man twists his way,
And his heart frets against the Lord.

And he who speaks lies will not escape.
6 Many entreat the favor of the nobility,
And every man is a friend to one who gives gifts.

10 Luxury is not fitting for a fool,
