Proverbios 18

18 Su propio deseo busca el que se aparta
y se entremete en todo negocio.
2 No se complace el necio en la inteligencia,
sino en manifestar su propia opinión.
3 Con el malvado viene también el menosprecio,
y con el que deshonra, la afrenta.
4 Aguas profundas son las palabras de la boca del hombre;
y arroyo que rebosa es la fuente de la sabiduría.
5 Tener respeto a la persona del malvado
para pervertir el derecho del justo, no es bueno.
6 Los labios del necio provocan contienda;
su boca, a los azotes llama.
7 La boca del necio le acarrea quebranto;
sus labios son trampas para su propia vida.
8 Las palabras del chismoso son como bocados suaves
que penetran hasta las entrañas.
9 El que es negligente en su trabajo
es hermano del hombre destructor.
10 Fuerte torre es el nombre de Jehová;
a ella corre el justo y se siente seguro.
11 Las riquezas del rico son su ciudad fortificada;
como un muro defensivo se las imagina.
12 Antes del quebranto se engríe el corazón del hombre,
pero antes de los honores está la humildad.
13 Al que responde sin haber escuchado,
la palabra le es fatuidad y vergüenza.
14 El ánimo del hombre le sostendrá en su enfermedad,
pero ¿quién sostendrá a un ánimo angustiado?
15 El corazón del inteligente adquiere sabiduría,
y el oído de los sabios busca la ciencia.
16 Los regalos de un hombre le abren el camino
que lleva a la presencia de los grandes.
17 Justo parece el primero que aboga por su causa,
pero viene su adversario y le rebate.
18 Las suertes ponen fin a los pleitos
y deciden entre los poderosos.
19 El hermano ofendido es más tenaz que una ciudad fuerte,
y las contiendas entre hermanos son como cerrojos de alcázar.
20 Del fruto de la boca del hombre se llena su vientre;
se sacia del producto de sus labios.
21 La muerte y la vida están en poder de la lengua;
el que la ama, comerá de sus frutos.
22 El que encuentra esposa encuentra el bien
y alcanza la benevolencia de Jehová.
23 El pobre habla con ruegos;
el rico responde con dureza.
24 El hombre que tiene amigos debe ser amistoso,
y amigos hay más unidos que un hermano.

18 Ai cố tình xa lánh mọi người là kẻ chỉ muốn chiều theo ý mình,
Người ấy nổi giận với mọi ý kiến khôn ngoan.
2 Kẻ dại dột không thích sự thông sáng,
Nhưng chỉ thích bộc lộ lòng dạ mình ra.
3 Khi kẻ gian ác đến, sự khinh bỉ cũng đến,
Khi sự nhục nhã đến, sự hổ thẹn cũng theo.
4 Lời của miệng người ta như nước sâu thăm thẳm;
Nguồn của sự khôn ngoan như nước suối tuôn tràn.
5 Thật không tốt khi thiên vị kẻ ác
Hay tước đoạt công lý của người ngay lành.
6 Môi kẻ dại gây ra xung đột;
Miệng nó mời đòn vọt vào thân.
7 Miệng kẻ dại khiến nó bị hủy diệt;
Môi nó là cái bẫy để hại linh hồn mình.
8 Lời kẻ mách lẻo giống như miếng ăn ngon ngọt;
Nó thấm vào tận gan ruột người nghe.
9 Kẻ thả trôi công việc mình là anh chị em của kẻ phá hoại.
10 Danh của Chúa là tháp cao vững chắc;
Người ngay lành chạy vào trong đó ắt được an toàn.
11 Của cải người giàu là thành trì kiên cố của họ;
Trong suy nghĩ của họ nó bảo vệ như bức tường cao.
12 Trước khi bị hủy diệt lòng người ta kiêu ngạo,
Nhưng sự khiêm nhường đi trước sự tôn trọng.
13 Ai trả lời trước khi nghe là kẻ dại
Và chuốc lấy sự hổ thẹn cho mình.
14 Tinh thần lạc quan khiến ta ráng gượng lên giữa cơn đau yếu,
Nhưng ai có thể chịu đựng nổi một tinh thần bi quan?
15 Tâm trí người thông minh lĩnh hội thêm kiến thức;
Tai người khôn ngoan kiếm tri thức lắng nghe.
16 Quà cáp có khả năng mở cửa,
Ðưa người ta đến gặp yếu nhân.
17 Bên tiên cáo nói xong nghe có lý,
Đến khi người biện hộ thẩm tra mới hiểu kỹ nguồn cơn.
18 Khi khó xử mà đôi bên đồng ý bắt thăm ngưng tranh tụng,
Dùng rủi may để phân thắng bại là cách giải quyết nên làm.
19 Lấy lại lòng của một người bị làm mích lòng thật khó hơn chiếm một thành kiên cố;
Sự xích mích giữa đôi bên giống như những song sắt cản trở ở cổng lâu đài.
20 Bông trái của miệng làm cho bụng no thỏa;
Kết quả của môi khiến bao tử no nê.
21 Sống hay chết do quyền của lưỡi;
Ai yêu mến nó sẽ ăn hoa lợi của nó.
22 Ai tìm được một người vợ là tìm được một điều phước;
Và nhận được ân huệ Chúa ban cho.
23 Người nghèo khó ngỏ lời xin nhã nhặn;
Kẻ giàu sang đáp xẳng xớm khó nghe.
24 Lắm kẻ dùng tình bạn làm phương tiện để lợi dụng;
Nhưng có một bạn tốt sát cánh với ta hơn anh chị em ruột.

King James Version
18 Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
3 When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
4 The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
16 A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
17 He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
23 The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
