14 La mujer sabia edifica su casa;
la insensata la derriba con sus manos.
2 Respetar al SEÑOR es vivir como a él le agrada,
apartarse de su camino es despreciarlo.
3 De la boca del tonto brota soberbia,
pero al sabio lo protegen sus labios.
4 Si no hay bueyes, el establo está vacío;
con la fuerza del buey hay muy buena cosecha.
5 El testigo verdadero no mentirá;
el testigo falso no dice la verdad.
6 El burlón busca la sabiduría y no la encuentra,
pero el inteligente aprende rápido.
7 No seas amigo de los brutos,
pues ellos no te pueden enseñar nada.
8 El inteligente es sabio
porque piensa muy bien lo que hace,
pero el bruto es tonto
porque se engaña a sí mismo.
9 Los tontos encuentran inútil reparar una falta,
pero los justos favorecen el acuerdo.
10 Sólo el corazón conoce sus propias amarguras,
y no comparte su felicidad con ningún extraño.
11 El hogar del perverso será destruido,
pero el del justo progresará.
12 Hay caminos que a uno le parecen correctos,
pero en realidad llevan a la muerte.
13 La depresión se oculta con la risa,
pero al final, reaparece la tristeza.
14 Los que hacen el mal serán castigados,
pero los que hacen el bien serán recompensados.
15 El tonto se cree todo lo que le dicen,
pero el inteligente se fija bien por dónde va.
16 El sabio lo piensa dos veces y se aparta del mal,
pero el bruto es descarado y se mete de lleno.
17 El que se enoja fácilmente hace locuras,
y el perverso será menospreciado.
18 Los tontos recibirán el pago de su estupidez,
pero los sabios serán recompensados por su conocimiento.
19 Los malos tendrán que someterse a los buenos;
y los perversos a los justos.
20 El pobre no tiene de amigo ni al vecino,
pero al rico le llueven las amistades.
21 El que desprecia a sus semejantes comete pecado,
pero afortunado el que se compadece del pobre.
22 Los que no piensan más que en hacer el mal perderán el camino,
pero los que hacen el bien encontrarán fiel amor y lealtad.
23 Si trabajas duro, sacarás provecho,
pero si no haces más que hablar sólo tendrás miseria.
24 La recompensa del sabio es su inteligencia;
la del bruto, tonterías.
25 El testigo que dice la verdad salva vidas;
el testigo falso propaga mentiras.
26 El que respeta al SEÑOR alcanzará seguridad
para él y para sus hijos.
27 El que respeta al SEÑOR obtiene vida verdadera
y se salva de la trampa de la muerte.
28 Es un honor para el rey gobernar sobre muchos,
y una ruina gobernar sobre pocos.
29 El que mantiene la calma es inteligente;
el que se enoja fácilmente es un tonto.
30 La mente tranquila es salud para el cuerpo,
pero la envidia causa enfermedades.
31 El que explota al pobre ofende al Creador,
pero el que le tiene compasión honra a Dios.
32 El perverso cae por su propia maldad,
pero el justo encuentra refugio en su honestidad.[a]
33 El sabio piensa con inteligencia,
pero el ignorante no sabe qué es eso.
34 La justicia hace grande a una nación,
pero el pecado le causa vergüenza.
35 El gobernante favorece al funcionario inteligente,
pero descarga su ira sobre el incapaz.

14 La mujer sabia construye su casa;
la necia, con sus propias manos la destruye.
2 El de recta conducta honra al Señor;
el de conducta torcida lo desprecia.
3 De la boca del necio brota el orgullo;
de los labios del sabio, su protección.
4 Cuando no hay bueyes, el trigo falta;
con la fuerza del buey, la cosecha aumenta.
5 El testigo verdadero no miente;
el testigo falso dice mentiras.
6 El insolente busca sabiduría y no la encuentra;
para el inteligente, el saber es cosa fácil.
7 Aléjate del necio,
pues de sus labios no obtendrás conocimiento.
8 La sabiduría hace al sabio entender su conducta,
pero al necio lo engaña su propia necedad.
9 Los necios se burlan de sus culpas,
pero entre los hombres honrados hay buena voluntad.
10 El corazón conoce sus propias amarguras,
y no comparte sus alegrías con ningún extraño.
11 La casa de los malvados será destruida;
la de los hombres honrados prosperará.
12 Hay caminos que parecen derechos,
pero al final de ellos está la muerte.
13 Hasta de reírse duele el corazón,
y al final la alegría acaba en llanto.
14 El necio está satisfecho de su conducta;
el hombre bueno lo está de sus acciones.
15 El imprudente cree todo lo que le dicen;
el prudente se fija por dónde anda.
16 El sabio teme al mal y se aparta de él,
pero al necio nada parece importarle.
17 El que es impulsivo actúa sin pensar;
el que es reflexivo mantiene la calma.
18 Los imprudentes son herederos de la necedad;
los prudentes se rodean de conocimientos.
19 Los malvados se inclinarán ante los buenos;
los malos suplicarán a las puertas de los justos.
20 Al pobre, hasta sus propios amigos lo odian;
al rico le sobran amigos.
21 El que desprecia a su amigo comete un pecado,
pero ¡feliz aquel que se compadece del pobre!
22 Los que buscan hacer lo malo, pierden el camino;
los que buscan hacer lo bueno son objeto de amor y lealtad.
23 De todo esfuerzo se saca provecho;
del mucho hablar, sólo miseria.
24 La corona del sabio es su inteligencia;
la de los necios, su necedad.
25 El testigo verdadero salva a otros la vida;
el testigo falso es causa de muerte.
26 El honrar al Señor es una firme esperanza
que da seguridad a los hijos.
27 El honrar al Señor es fuente de vida
que libra de los lazos de la muerte.
28 Gobernar a muchos es una honra para el rey;
gobernar a pocos es su ruina.
29 Ser paciente es muestra de mucha inteligencia;
ser impaciente es muestra de gran estupidez.
30 La mente tranquila es vida para el cuerpo,
pero la envidia corroe hasta los huesos.
31 Ofende a su Creador quien oprime al pobre,
pero lo honra quien le tiene compasión.
32 Al malvado lo arruina su propia maldad;
al hombre honrado lo protege su honradez.
33 La sabiduría habita en mentes que razonan,
pero entre los necios es desconocida.
34 La justicia es el orgullo de una nación;
el pecado es su vergüenza.
35 El siervo capaz se gana el favor del rey,
pero el incapaz se gana su enojo.

2 La gente honrada obedece a Dios;
la gente malvada lo desprecia.
3 Es de tontos hablar con orgullo;
es de sabios ser de pocas palabras.
4 Sin las herramientas apropiadas,
el trabajo no da fruto;
con buenas herramientas
se saca mejor provecho.
5 El testigo verdadero dice la verdad;
el testigo falso siempre dice mentiras.
6 El malcriado quisiera ser sabio,
pero jamás llegará a serlo;
en cambio, el entendido
muy pronto gana conocimientos.
7 Aléjate de los tontos,
que nunca aprenderás nada de ellos.
8 El que es sabio lo demuestra
en que piensa bien lo que hace,
pero el tonto vive engañado
por su propia estupidez.
9 A los necios no les importa
si Dios los perdona o no,
pero la gente buena
quiere el perdón de Dios.
10 Nadie más que tú
conoce realmente
tus tristezas y tus alegrías.
11 La familia del malvado
será destruida,
pero el hogar del bueno
prosperará.
12 Hay cosas que hacemos
que nos parecen correctas,
pero que al fin de cuentas
nos llevan a la tumba.
13 La mucha risa causa dolor;
hay alegrías que acaban en tristeza.
14 La gente tonta
es feliz con su mala conducta;
la gente buena es feliz
con sus buenas acciones.
15 La gente tonta cree
todo lo que le dicen;
la gente sabia piensa bien
antes de actuar.
16 El sabio conoce el miedo
y se cuida del peligro,
pero el tonto es atrevido
y se pasa de confiado.
17 El que pronto se enoja
pronto hace tonterías,
pero el que piensa en lo que hace
muestra gran paciencia.
18 La recompensa de los tontos
es su propia estupidez;
el premio de los sabios
consiste en saber cómo actuar.
19 Los malvados no resisten
la justicia de los buenos.
20 Si eres pobre,
ni tus amigos te buscan;
si eres rico,
todo el mundo es tu amigo.
21 No debes despreciar al amigo;
¡si eres bueno con los pobres,
Dios te bendecirá!
22 Los que piensan hacer lo malo
cometen un grave error;
los que procuran hacer lo bueno
reciben el gran amor de Dios.
23 Todo esfuerzo vale la pena,
pero quien habla y no actúa
acaba en la pobreza.
24 La riqueza del sabio es su sabiduría;
la pobreza del tonto es su estupidez.
25 El testigo que dice la verdad
salva a otros de la muerte,
pero hay testigos mentirosos.
26 El que obedece a Dios
ya tiene un poderoso protector
para él y para sus hijos.
27 El que obedece a Dios
tiene larga vida;
ha escapado de la muerte.
28 Para el rey es un orgullo
gobernar a un pueblo numeroso;
¡qué vergüenza es para él
no tener a quién gobernar!
29 El sabio domina su enojo;
el tonto no controla su violencia.
30 Mente sana en cuerpo sano;
por eso la envidia
te destruye por completo.
31 Quien le quita todo al pobre
ofende a Dios, su creador;
quien obedece a Dios
trata bien al pobre.
32 El malvado fracasa por su maldad;
pero el hombre bueno
confía en Dios hasta la muerte.
33 En la mente del sabio
hay lugar para la sabiduría;

no llega a conocerla.

14 The wise woman builds her house,(A)
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
2 Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly,
but those who despise him are devious in their ways.
4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty,
but from the strength of an ox(D) come abundant harvests.
5 An honest witness does not deceive,
but a false witness pours out lies.(E)
6 The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.(F)
7 Stay away from a fool,
for you will not find knowledge on their lips.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways,(G)
but the folly of fools is deception.(H)
9 Fools mock at making amends for sin,
but goodwill is found among the upright.
10 Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can share its joy.
13 Even in laughter(M) the heart may ache,
and rejoicing may end in grief.
15 The simple believe anything,
but the prudent give thought to their steps.(P)
17 A quick-tempered person(S) does foolish things,(T)
and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.(U)
18 The simple inherit folly,
but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

but mere talk leads only to poverty.

3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
