Proverbios 14

14 La mujer sabia edifica su casa,
la necia la arruina con sus manos.
2 Quien procede honradamente respeta al Señor,
el de conducta torcida lo desprecia.
3 Las palabras del necio son brote de soberbia,
las del sabio le sirven de protección.
4 Donde no hay bueyes, granero vacío;
la fuerza del toro trae cosecha abundante.
5 Testigo fiel no miente,
testigo falso esparce mentiras.
6 El insolente busca sabiduría sin éxito,
para el inteligente es fácil el saber.
7 Aléjate de la persona insensata,
pues no recibirás saber de sus labios.
8 La sabiduría del prudente le hace conocer su camino,
la necedad de los estúpidos es un fraude.
9 Los necios se mofan de sus culpas,
los honrados gozan del favor.
10 El corazón conoce su propia amargura
y no comparte su alegría con extraños.
11 Mansión de malvados se arruina,
cabaña de honrados prospera.
12 Hay caminos que parecen rectos
y al final son caminos de muerte.
13 Aun entre risas sufre el corazón,
al final la alegría acaba en llanto.
14 Al infiel lo nutren sus extravíos;
a la persona de bien, sus obras.
15 El incauto se lo cree todo,
el prudente medita sus pasos.
16 El sabio teme un mal y lo evita,
el necio se mete en él confiado.
17 El impulsivo comete locuras,
el juicioso mantiene la calma.
18 Los incautos heredan necedad,
los prudentes abrazan el saber.
19 Los malos se someterán a los buenos,
los malvados se inclinarán ante el justo.
20 Aun al amigo le es odioso el pobre,
los amigos del rico son muchos.
21 Quien desprecia a su prójimo peca,
quien se apiada de los pobres es dichoso.
22 Se extravían quienes traman el mal,
amor y verdad para los que buscan el bien.
23 Todo trabajo rinde beneficios;
la palabrería, sólo penuria.
24 El ingenio es corona de sabios;
la insensatez, distintivo de necios.
25 El testigo veraz salva vidas,
el falso propaga mentiras.
26 El respeto del Señor da plena confianza,
será para sus hijos un refugio.
27 El respeto del Señor es fuente de vida,
libra de los lazos de la muerte.
28 Pueblo numeroso, gloria del rey;
escasez de gente, ruina del príncipe.
29 El paciente demuestra gran inteligencia,
el impulsivo delata necedad.
30 La mente sana vivifica al cuerpo,
la envidia corroe los huesos.
31 Quien oprime al pobre insulta a su Creador,
quien se apiada del indigente lo honra.
32 El malvado tropieza en su maldad,
el justo halla refugio en su honradez.
33 La sabiduría habita en mente inteligente,
pero es desconocida entre los necios.
34 La justicia engrandece a una nación,
el pecado cubre a los pueblos de vergüenza.
35 El rey favorece al siervo eficiente
y descarga su cólera sobre el inepto.

King James Version
14 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

but folly with her own hands (C)tears it down.
2 Whoever (D)walks in uprightness fears the Lord,

3 By the mouth of a fool comes (F)a rod for his back,[a]
(G)but the lips of the wise will preserve them.
4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean,
but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.

but (I)a false witness breathes out lies.
6 (J)A scoffer seeks wisdom (K)in vain,
but (L)knowledge is easy for a man of understanding.

Those who devise good meet[e] (AF)steadfast love and faithfulness.
23 In all toil there is profit,
but mere talk (AG)tends only to poverty.
24 The crown of the wise is their wealth,
but the folly of fools brings folly.
25 A truthful witness saves lives,
but one who (AH)breathes out lies is deceitful.
26 In the fear of the Lord one has (AI)strong confidence,

27 The fear of the Lord is (AL)a fountain of life,
that one may (AM)turn away from the snares of death.

but without people a prince is ruined.

but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully.
