14 La mujer sabia edifica su casa(A),
Pero la necia la derriba con sus manos.
2 El que anda en rectitud(B) teme al Señor,
Pero el de perversos caminos(C) lo desprecia.
3 En la boca del necio hay una vara para su espalda[a],
Pero los labios de los sabios los protegerán(D).
4 Donde no hay bueyes, el pesebre está limpio,
Pero mucho rendimiento se obtiene por la fuerza del buey.
5 El testigo veraz(E) no mentirá,
Pero el testigo falso(F) habla[b] mentiras(G).
6 El insolente busca sabiduría y no la halla,
Pero para el hombre entendido el conocimiento es fácil.
7 Apártate de la presencia del necio(H),
Porque en él no discernirás[c] palabras[d] de conocimiento.
8 La sabiduría del prudente está en entender su camino,
Pero la necedad de los necios es engaño(I).
9 Los necios se ríen del pecado[e],
Pero entre los rectos hay buena voluntad[f](J).
10 El corazón conoce su propia amargura(K),
Y un extraño no comparte su alegría.
11 La casa de los impíos será destruida(L),
Pero la tienda de los rectos florecerá.
12 Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho(M),
Pero al final, es camino de muerte(N).
13 Aun en la risa, el corazón puede tener dolor,
Y el final de la alegría puede ser tristeza(O).
14 El de corazón descarriado se saciará de sus caminos(P),
Pero el hombre bueno estará satisfecho con el suyo[g](Q).
15 El simple todo lo cree,
Pero el prudente mira bien sus pasos.
16 El sabio teme y se aparta del mal(R),
Pero el necio es arrogante y descuidado.
17 El hombre pronto a la ira obra neciamente,
Y el hombre de malos designios es aborrecido.
18 Los simples heredan necedad,
Pero los prudentes son coronados de conocimiento.
19 Los malos se inclinarán ante los buenos(S),
Y los impíos, a las puertas del justo.
20 Aun por su vecino es odiado el pobre(T),
Pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
21 El que desprecia a su prójimo peca(U),
Pero es feliz el que se apiada de los pobres[h](V).
22 ¿No se perderán los que traman el mal(W)?
Pero misericordia y verdad recibirán los que planean el bien.
23 En todo trabajo hay ganancia,
Pero el vano hablar[i] conduce solo a la pobreza.
24 La corona de los sabios es su riqueza(X),
Pero la necedad de los necios es insensatez.
25 El testigo veraz salva vidas,
Pero el que habla[j] mentiras(Y) es traidor[k].
26 En el temor[l] del Señor hay confianza segura(Z),
Y a los[m] hijos dará refugio.
27 El temor[n] del Señor es fuente de vida,
Para evadir los lazos de la muerte.
28 En la multitud del pueblo está la gloria del rey,
Pero en la falta de pueblo está la ruina del príncipe.
29 El lento para la ira(AA) tiene gran prudencia,
Pero el que es irascible[o] ensalza la necedad.
30 Un corazón apacible es vida para el cuerpo(AB),
Pero las pasiones son podredumbre de los huesos(AC).
31 El que oprime al pobre afrenta a su Hacedor(AD),
Pero el que se apiada del necesitado lo honra.
32 El impío es derribado por su maldad[p](AE),
Pero el justo tiene un refugio cuando muere(AF).
33 En el corazón del prudente reposa la sabiduría,
Pero en medio[q] de los necios no se da a conocer.
34 La justicia engrandece a la nación,
Pero el pecado es afrenta para los pueblos.
35 El favor del rey es para el siervo que obra sabiamente(AG),
Pero su enojo es contra el que obra vergonzosamente.

14 La mujer sabia edifica su casa;
Mas la necia con sus manos la derriba.
2 El que camina en su rectitud teme a Jehová;
Mas el de caminos pervertidos lo menosprecia.
3 En la boca del necio está la vara de la soberbia;
Mas los labios de los sabios los guardarán.
4 Sin bueyes el granero está vacío;
Mas por la fuerza del buey hay abundancia de pan.
5 El testigo verdadero no mentirá;
Mas el testigo falso hablará mentiras.
6 Busca el escarnecedor la sabiduría y no la halla;
Mas al hombre entendido la sabiduría le es fácil.
7 Vete de delante del hombre necio,
Porque en él no hallarás labios de ciencia.
8 La ciencia del prudente está en entender su camino;
Mas la indiscreción de los necios es engaño.
9 Los necios se mofan del pecado;
Mas entre los rectos hay buena voluntad.
10 El corazón conoce la amargura de su alma;
Y extraño no se entremeterá en su alegría.
11 La casa de los impíos será asolada;
Pero florecerá la tienda de los rectos.
12 Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho;
Pero su fin es camino de muerte.(A)
13 Aun en la risa tendrá dolor el corazón;
Y el término de la alegría es congoja.
14 De sus caminos será hastiado el necio de corazón;
Pero el hombre de bien estará contento del suyo.
15 El simple todo lo cree;
Mas el avisado mira bien sus pasos.
16 El sabio teme y se aparta del mal;
Mas el insensato se muestra insolente y confiado.
17 El que fácilmente se enoja hará locuras;
Y el hombre perverso será aborrecido.
18 Los simples heredarán necedad;
Mas los prudentes se coronarán de sabiduría.
19 Los malos se inclinarán delante de los buenos,
Y los impíos a las puertas del justo.
20 El pobre es odioso aun a su amigo;
Pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
21 Peca el que menosprecia a su prójimo;
Mas el que tiene misericordia de los pobres es bienaventurado.
22 ¿No yerran los que piensan el mal?
Misericordia y verdad alcanzarán los que piensan el bien.
23 En toda labor hay fruto;
Mas las vanas palabras de los labios empobrecen.
24 Las riquezas de los sabios son su corona;
Pero la insensatez de los necios es infatuación.
25 El testigo verdadero libra las almas;
Mas el engañoso hablará mentiras.
26 En el temor de Jehová está la fuerte confianza;
Y esperanza tendrán sus hijos.
27 El temor de Jehová es manantial de vida
Para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.
28 En la multitud del pueblo está la gloria del rey;
Y en la falta de pueblo la debilidad del príncipe.
29 El que tarda en airarse es grande de entendimiento;
Mas el que es impaciente de espíritu enaltece la necedad.
30 El corazón apacible es vida de la carne;
Mas la envidia es carcoma de los huesos.
31 El que oprime al pobre afrenta a su Hacedor;
Mas el que tiene misericordia del pobre, lo honra.
32 Por su maldad será lanzado el impío;
Mas el justo en su muerte tiene esperanza.
33 En el corazón del prudente reposa la sabiduría;
Pero no es conocida en medio de los necios.
34 La justicia engrandece a la nación;
Mas el pecado es afrenta de las naciones.
35 La benevolencia del rey es para con el servidor entendido;
Mas su enojo contra el que lo avergüenza.

14 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

2 Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly,
but those who despise him are devious in their ways.
4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty,
but from the strength of an ox(D) come abundant harvests.
5 An honest witness does not deceive,
but a false witness pours out lies.(E)
6 The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.(F)
7 Stay away from a fool,
for you will not find knowledge on their lips.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways,(G)
but the folly of fools is deception.(H)
9 Fools mock at making amends for sin,
but goodwill is found among the upright.
10 Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can share its joy.

and rejoicing may end in grief.

20 The poor are shunned even by their neighbors,

22 Do not those who plot evil go astray?(Z)
But those who plan what is good find[a] love and faithfulness.
23 All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.
24 The wealth of the wise is their crown,
but the folly of fools yields folly.(AA)
25 A truthful witness saves lives,
but a false witness is deceitful.(AB)
26 Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,(AC)
and for their children it will be a refuge.(AD)
28 A large population is a king’s glory,
but without subjects a prince is ruined.(AG)
29 Whoever is patient has great understanding,(AH)
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.(AI)
30 A heart at peace gives life to the body,
but envy rots the bones.(AJ)
31 Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,(AK)
but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.(AL)
32 When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down,(AM)
but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God.(AN)
33 Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning(AO)
and even among fools she lets herself be known.[b]

but sin condemns any people.
35 A king delights in a wise servant,
