12 El que ama la disciplina, ama el conocimiento;
el ignorante detesta que lo corrijan.
2 El SEÑOR aprueba al hombre bueno,
pero condena al intrigante.
3 Nadie se afirma mediante la maldad,
pero la raíz de los justos quedará bien firme.
4 La esposa buena es orgullo de su esposo,
pero la mala acaba con él.
5 Los pensamientos del justo son honestos,
pero los consejos del perverso son engañosos.
6 Las palabras del perverso son una emboscada sangrienta,
pero las palabras del justo lo ponen a salvo.
7 Los perversos caen y ahí acaban,
pero la casa de los justos permanece firme.
8 Al hombre se le alaba según su inteligencia,
pero el ignorante sólo obtiene desprecio.
9 Es mejor no ser importante pero tener qué comer
que ser famoso y andar muerto de hambre.
10 El justo cuida a sus animales,
pero el perverso es cruel con ellos.
11 El que trabaja su tierra tendrá suficiente alimento,
pero el tonto desperdicia el tiempo.
12 Los malos deseos atrapan al perverso,
pero la fortaleza interior de los justos los prospera.
13 El perverso cae por su propia boca,
pero el justo sale bien librado cuando está en apuros.
14 Cada quien conseguirá lo bueno conforme a lo que habla,
y cada uno recibe de acuerdo a lo que hace.
15 El insensato cree que se las sabe todas,
pero el inteligente oye consejos.
16 El insensato se enoja con facilidad,
pero el inteligente pasa por alto los insultos.
17 El testigo fiel declara la verdad;
el testigo falso dice mentiras.
18 El que habla sin pensar hiere como una espada,
pero lo que dice el sabio trae alivio.
19 Las mentiras terminan por descubrirse;
la verdad permanece para siempre.
20 Los que planean el mal tienen la mente retorcida,
pero los que buscan la paz tienen el corazón lleno de alegría.
21 El justo estará a salvo,
pero el perverso estará colmado de dificultades.
22 El SEÑOR detesta a los mentirosos,
pero se alegra con los que dicen la verdad.
23 El que es inteligente no dice todo lo que sabe;
en cambio, el bruto todo lo cuenta.
24 El que trabaja duro se convertirá en líder,
pero el perezoso siempre estará esclavizado.
25 Las preocupaciones no dejan a la gente ser feliz,
pero las palabras de aliento le traen alegría.
26 El justo orienta bien a sus semejantes,
pero el perverso siempre se equivoca.
27 El perezoso no sale con nada,
pero el que trabaja duro prospera.
28 El camino de la justicia lleva a la vida,
en ese camino no se encuentra la muerte.

pero el que la aborrece es un necio.
2 El hombre bueno recibe el favor del Señor,
pero el intrigante recibe su condena.
3 Nadie puede afirmarse por medio de la maldad;
solo queda firme la raíz de los justos.
4 La mujer ejemplar[a] es corona de su esposo;
la desvergonzada corroe los huesos.
5 En los planes del justo hay justicia,
pero en los consejos del malvado hay engaño.
6 Las palabras del malvado son insidias de muerte,
pero la boca de los justos los pone a salvo.
7 Los malvados se derrumban y dejan de existir,
pero las familias de los justos permanecen.
8 Al hombre se le alaba según su sabiduría,
pero al de malos pensamientos[b] se le desprecia.
9 Vale más un despreciado con criado
que un vanaglorioso sin pan.
10 El justo atiende a las necesidades de su bestia,
pero el malvado es cruel.
11 El que trabaja su tierra tendrá abundante comida,
pero el que sueña despierto[c] es falto de juicio.
12 El codicioso anhela el botín de los perversos;
pero la raíz de los justos da fruto.
13 En el pecado de sus labios se enreda el malvado,
pero el justo sale del aprieto.
14 Cada uno se sacia del buen fruto de sus labios
y de la obra de sus manos recibe su recompensa.
15 Al necio le parece bien lo que emprende,
pero el sabio escucha el consejo.
16 El necio muestra enseguida su enojo,
pero el prudente pasa por alto el insulto.
17 El testigo veraz declara lo que es justo,
pero el testigo falso engaña.
18 El charlatán hiere con la lengua como con una espada,
pero la lengua del sabio brinda sanidad.
19 Los labios sinceros permanecen para siempre,
pero la lengua mentirosa dura solo un instante.
20 En los que planean el mal habita el engaño,
pero hay gozo para los que promueven la paz.
21 Al justo no le sobrevendrá ningún daño,
pero al malvado lo cubrirá la desgracia.
22 El Señor aborrece a los de labios mentirosos,
pero se complace en los que actúan con lealtad.
23 El hombre prudente no muestra lo que sabe,
pero del corazón de los necios brota necedad.
24 El de manos diligentes gobernará;
pero el perezoso será subyugado.
25 La angustia abate el corazón del hombre,
pero una palabra amable lo alegra.
26 El justo es guía de su prójimo,[d]
pero el camino del malvado lo hace errar.
27 El perezoso no pone a asar lo que ha cazado,[e]
pero el diligente ya posee una gran riqueza.
28 En el camino de la justicia se halla la vida;
por ese camino se evita la muerte.

12 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
28 In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

12 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid.(A)
3 No one can be established through wickedness,
but the righteous cannot be uprooted.(D)
4 A wife of noble character(E) is her husband’s crown,
but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.(F)
5 The plans of the righteous are just,
but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,
but the speech of the upright rescues them.(G)
8 A person is praised according to their prudence,
and one with a warped(J) mind is despised.
9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant
than pretend to be somebody and have no food.
10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals,(K)
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.
11 Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense.(L)
12 The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers,
but the root of the righteous endures.
14 From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things,(O)
and the work of their hands brings them reward.(P)
17 An honest witness tells the truth,
but a false witness tells lies.(V)
19 Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but those who promote peace have joy.(Y)
21 No harm overtakes the righteous,(Z)
but the wicked have their fill of trouble.
24 Diligent hands will rule,
but laziness ends in forced labor.(AF)
25 Anxiety weighs down the heart,(AG)
but a kind word cheers it up.
26 The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.(AH)
27 The lazy do not roast[a] any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.
28 In the way of righteousness there is life;(AI)
along that path is immortality.
