Proverbios 1
y entiendan palabras
bien dichas y bien pensadas.
También sirven para enseñar
a los que no tienen experiencia,
a fin de que sean cuidadosos,
honrados y justos en todo;
que muestren astucia y conocimiento,
y piensen bien lo que hacen.
5 Ustedes, los sabios e inteligentes,
escuchen lo que voy a decirles.
Así se harán más sabios
y ganarán experiencia.
6 Así podrán entender
lo que es un proverbio
lo que es un ejemplo,
y lo que es una adivinanza.
7 Todo el que quiera ser sabio
debe empezar por obedecer a Dios.
Pero la gente ignorante
no quiere ser corregida
ni llegar a ser sabia.
Consejos contra los falsos amigos
8 Querido jovencito:
Atiende a tu padre
cuando te llame la atención,
y muestra respeto
cuando tu madre te enseñe.
9 Sus enseñanzas te adornarán
como una corona en la cabeza,
como un collar en el cuello.
10 Querido jovencito,
si los malvados quieren
que te portes mal,
no te dejes llevar por ellos.
11-12 Tal vez te digan:
«Ven con nosotros,
ataquemos al primero que pase
y quitémosle lo que traiga.
Si se muere, que se muera,
y que se lo coman los gusanos.
¡Matemos por el gusto de matar!
13 Con lo que robemos,
llenaremos nuestras casas
enamorados de su propia ignorancia;
y ustedes, jovencitos malcriados,
que parecen muy contentos
con su mala educación,
¿seguirán siendo siempre así?
Y ustedes, los ignorantes,
¿seguirán odiando el conocimiento?
23 ¡Háganme caso cuando los instruya!
Así compartiré con ustedes
mis enseñanzas y pensamientos.
24 Yo los llamo,
pero ustedes no me responden;
les hago señas,
pero ustedes no me hacen caso.
25 Rechazan todos mis consejos,
y desobedecen mis regaños.
26-27 ¡Pues yo también me burlaré
cuando estén llenos de miedo,
y se queden en la ruina!
Será como si los arrastrara el viento
o les cayera una tormenta.
28 Me llamarán, y no les responderé;
me buscarán, y no me encontrarán.
29 Ustedes no quieren aprender
ni obedecer a Dios;
30 no siguen mis consejos,

Proverbs 1
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:(A)
Prologue
2 For learning about wisdom and instruction,
for understanding words of insight,
3 for gaining instruction in wise dealing,
righteousness, justice, and equity;(B)
4 to teach shrewdness to the simple,
knowledge and prudence to the young—(C)
5 let the wise, too, hear and gain in learning
and the discerning acquire skill,(D)
6 to understand a proverb and a figure,
the words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction.(E)
Warnings against Evil Companions
8 Hear, my child, your father’s instruction,
and do not reject your mother’s teaching,(F)
9 for they are a fair garland for your head
and pendants for your neck.(G)
10 My child, if sinners entice you,
do not consent.(H)
11 If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood;
let us wantonly ambush the innocent;(I)
12 like Sheol let us swallow them alive
and whole, like those who go down to the Pit.(J)
13 We shall find all kinds of costly things;
we shall fill our houses with spoil.
14 Throw in your lot among us;
we will all have one purse”—
15 my child, do not walk in their way;
keep your foot from their paths,(K)
16 for their feet run to evil,
and they hurry to shed blood.(L)
17 For in vain is the net baited
while the bird is looking on;
18 yet they lie in wait—to kill themselves!
and set an ambush—for their own lives!
19 Such is the end[a] of all who are greedy for gain;
it takes away the life of its possessors.(M)
The Call of Wisdom
20 Wisdom cries out in the street;
in the squares she raises her voice.(N)
21 At the busiest corner she cries out;
at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:
22 “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing
and fools hate knowledge?(O)
23 Give heed to my reproof;
I will pour out my thoughts to you;
I will make my words known to you.(P)
24 Because I have called and you refused,
have stretched out my hand and no one heeded,(Q)
25 and because you have ignored all my counsel
and would have none of my reproof,(R)
26 I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when panic strikes you,(S)
27 when panic strikes you like a storm
and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently but will not find me.(T)
29 Because they hated knowledge
and did not choose the fear of the Lord,
30 would have none of my counsel
and despised all my reproof,(U)
31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way
and be sated with their own devices.(V)
32 For waywardness kills the simple,
and the complacency of fools destroys them;(W)
33 but those who listen to me will be secure
and will live at ease without dread of disaster.”(X)

8 Listen, my son,(M) to your father’s(N) instruction
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.(O)
9 They are a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck.(P)
10 My son, if sinful men entice(Q) you,
do not give in(R) to them.(S)
11 If they say, “Come along with us;
let’s lie in wait(T) for innocent blood,
let’s ambush some harmless soul;
12 let’s swallow(U) them alive, like the grave,
and whole, like those who go down to the pit;(V)
13 we will get all sorts of valuable things

Wisdom’s Rebuke
20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,(AE)
she raises her voice in the public square;
21 on top of the wall[d] she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:
22 “How long will you who are simple(AF) love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate(AG) knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings.
24 But since you refuse(AH) to listen when I call(AI)
and no one pays attention(AJ) when I stretch out my hand,
25 since you disregard all my advice
and do not accept my rebuke,
26 I in turn will laugh(AK) when disaster(AL) strikes you;
I will mock(AM) when calamity overtakes you(AN)—
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster(AO) sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
28 “Then they will call to me but I will not answer;(AP)
they will look for me but will not find me,(AQ)
29 since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the Lord.(AR)
30 Since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,(AS)
31 they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.(AT)
32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;(AU)
33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety(AV)
and be at ease, without fear of harm.”(AW)

Kawikaan 1
Sinasabi niya,
22 “Kayong mga walang alam,
hanggang kailan kayo mananatiling ganyan?
26-27 Pagtatawanan ko kayo kapag napahamak kayo;
