^4 (A)He who has a slack hand becomes poor,

But ^[a]idle chatter leads only to poverty.

^13 (A)Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty;
Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread.

³⁰ I went by the field of the lazy man,
And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;
³¹ And there it was, ^(A)all overgrown with thorns;
Its surface was covered with nettles;
Its stone wall was broken down.
³² When I saw it, I considered it well;
I looked on it and received instruction:
^33 (B)A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest;
^34 (C)So shall your poverty come like ^[a]a prowler,
And your need like ^[b]an armed man.

¹⁷ He who loves pleasure will be a poor man;
He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

^11 (A)He who ^[a]tills his land will be satisfied with ^(B)bread,
But he who follows ^[b]frivolity ^(C)is devoid of ^[c]understanding.

^19 (A)He who tills his land will have plenty of bread,
But he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough!
