Proverbs 1:24-28

²⁴^(A)Because I have called and you refused,
I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
²⁵Because you ^(B)disdained all my counsel,
And would have none of my rebuke,
²⁶^(C)I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your terror comes,
²⁷When ^(D)your terror comes like a storm,
And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.

²⁸“Then^(E) they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.

Zechariah 7:11-14

¹¹“But they refused to heed, ^(A)shrugged^[a] their shoulders, and ^(B)stopped^[b] their ears so that they could not hear. ¹²Yes, they made their ^(C)hearts like flint, ^(D)refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. ^(E)Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. ¹³Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so ^(F)they called out and I would not listen,” says the Lord of hosts. ¹⁴“But ^(G)I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”
