²³ Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works no one else did,^(A) they would not be guilty of sin.^(B) As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.

²⁹ How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God^(A) underfoot,^(B) who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant^(C) that sanctified them,^(D) and who has insulted the Spirit^(E) of grace?^(F)

¹⁹ This is the verdict: Light^(A) has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.^{(B) 20} Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.^(C)
