⁴ Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
And call understanding your nearest kin,

² So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
³ Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
^4 (A)If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;

⁶ Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you;
^(A)Love her, and she will keep you.
^7 (B)Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
^8 (C)Exalt her, and she will promote you;
She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.

¹⁴ If I say to corruption, ‘You are my father,’
And to the worm, ‘You are my mother and my sister,’
