² for I give you good precepts:
    do not forsake my teaching.

² May my teaching drop like the rain,
    my speech condense like the dew,
like gentle rain on grass,
    like showers on new growth.^(A)

⁶ Hear, for I will speak noble things,
    and from my lips will come what is right,^(A)
7 for my mouth will utter truth;
    wickedness is an abomination to my lips.^(B)
8 All the words of my mouth are righteous;
    there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
⁹ They are all straight to one who understands
    and right to those who find knowledge.^(C)

³⁰ If his children forsake my law
    and do not walk according to my ordinances,^(A)
31 if they violate my statutes
    and do not keep my commandments,
³² then I will punish their transgression with the rod
    and their iniquity with scourges,^(B)

³ My words declare the uprightness of my heart,
    and what my lips know they speak sincerely.^(A)

²⁰ Have I not written for you thirty^[a] sayings
    of admonition and knowledge,^(A)
21 to show you what is right and true,
    so that you may give a true answer to those who sent you?^(B)
