¹² Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold
    is a wise rebuke to a listening ear.^(A)

    will lodge among the wise.
³² Those who ignore instruction despise themselves,

⁵ Better is open rebuke
    than hidden love.^(A)
6 Well meant are the wounds a friend inflicts,
    but profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

⁵ A fool despises a parent’s instruction,
    but the one who heeds admonition is prudent.^(A)
