Daniel's Faithfulness

⁸ But Daniel ^(A)resolved that he would not ^(B)defile himself with ^(C)the king's food, or with ^(D)the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to ^(E)defile himself. ^9 (F)And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs, ¹⁰ and the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who assigned your food and your drink; for why should he see that you were in worse condition than the youths who are of your own age? So you would endanger my head with the king.”

⁹ Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your ^(A)eye look grudgingly^[a] on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he ^(B)cry to the Lord against you, and ^(C)you be guilty of sin.

^15 (A)Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or ^(B)do you begrudge my generosity?’^[a]

^56 (A)The most tender and refined woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because she is so delicate and tender, will begrudge to the husband she embraces,^[a] to her son and to her daughter,
