²⁷ As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”^(A)

²⁸ He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God^(B) and obey it.”^(C)

⁵⁸ Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy.

⁴⁰ where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. ⁴¹ When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.^{(A) 42} In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women,^(B) and blessed is the child you will bear! ⁴³ But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord^(C) should come to me? ⁴⁴ As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. ⁴⁵ Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

⁴⁶ And Mary said:

⁹ Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez,^[a] saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” ¹⁰ Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

³¹ You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.^{(A) 32} He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.^(B) The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,^{(C) 33} and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom^(D) will never end.”^(E)
