10 The proverbs^(A) of Solomon:^(B)

Saying 14

²⁰ I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh^(A) my heart in Christ.

⁹ yet I prefer to appeal to you^(A) on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul—an old man and now also a prisoner^(B) of Christ Jesus—

¹⁹ And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish?^(A) Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

⁹ But now, do not consider him innocent. You are a man of wisdom;^(A) you will know what to do to him. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood.”

David’s Charge to Solomon^(A)

2 When the time drew near for David to die,^(B) he gave a charge to Solomon his son.

² “I am about to go the way of all the earth,”^(C) he said. “So be strong,^(D) act like a man, ³ and observe^(E) what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper^(F) in all you do and wherever you go
