⁴ Haughty eyes, a proud heart,
    and evil actions are all sin.

“God opposes the proud
    but gives grace to the humble.”^[a]

¹⁷ haughty eyes,
    a lying tongue,
    hands that kill the innocent,

¹⁷ Human pride will be humbled,
    and human arrogance will be brought down.
Only the Lord will be exalted
    on that day of judgment.

¹³ All who fear the Lord will hate evil.
    Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance,
    corruption and perverse speech.

²⁷ The sacrifice of an evil person is detestable,
    especially when it is offered with wrong motives.

⁸ The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
    but he delights in the prayers of the upright.
