³¹ The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
    but the victory belongs to the Lord.^(A)

31 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help
    and who rely on horses,
who trust in chariots because they are many
    and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but do not look to the Holy One of Israel
    or consult the Lord!^(A)

⁷ Some take pride in chariots and some in horses,
    but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.^(A)

¹⁷ The war horse is a vain hope for victory,
    and by its great might it cannot save.^(A)

¹⁰ His delight is not in the strength of the horse
    nor his pleasure in the speed of a runner,^[a](A)

²⁰ Our God is a God of salvation,
    and to God, the Lord, belongs escape from death.^(A)

²³ Truly the hills are^[a] a delusion,
    a tumult on the mountains.
Truly in the Lord our God
    is the salvation of Israel.^(A)
