⁹ “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you;^(A) seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

¹¹ “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for^[a] a fish, will give him a snake instead? ¹² Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

⁷ I will give them a heart to know^(A) me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people,^(B) and I will be their God, for they will return^(C) to me with all their heart.^(D)

²⁰ We know also that the Son of God has come^(A) and has given us understanding,^(B) so that we may know him who is true.^(C) And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.^(D)

²² “All things have been committed to me by my Father.^(A) No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”^(B)

¹⁰ Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead^(A) this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

¹¹ God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth,^(B) possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, ¹² therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor,^(C) such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.^(D)”

⁴⁰ I will make an everlasting covenant^(A) with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire^(B) them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.^{(C) 41} I will rejoice^(D) in doing them good^(E) and will assuredly plant^(F) them in this land with all my heart and soul.^(G)
