    they imagine it a wall too high to scale.

    but poverty is the ruin of the poor.^(B)

¹² Wisdom is a shelter
    as money is a shelter,
but the advantage of knowledge is this:
    Wisdom preserves those who have it.

⁵ Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
    He will snatch you up and pluck^(A) you from your tent;
    he will uproot^(B) you from the land of the living.^(C)
6 The righteous will see and fear;
    they will laugh^(D) at you, saying,
⁷ “Here now is the man
    who did not make God his stronghold^(E)
but trusted in his great wealth^(F)
    and grew strong by destroying others!”

⁶ those who trust in their wealth^(A)
    and boast^(B) of their great riches?^(C)
7 No one can redeem the life of another
    or give to God a ransom for them—
⁸ the ransom^(D) for a life is costly,
    no payment is ever enough—^(E)
9 so that they should live on^(F) forever
    and not see decay.^(G)

    or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’^(B)
25 if I have rejoiced over my great wealth,^(C)
    the fortune my hands had gained,^(D)

³¹ For their rock is not like our Rock,^(A)
    as even our enemies concede.^(B)

⁴ Wealth^(A) is worthless in the day of wrath,^(B)
    but righteousness delivers from death.^(C)
