²⁰ One whose heart is corrupt does not prosper;
    one whose tongue is perverse falls into trouble.

⁶ The lips of fools bring them strife,
    and their mouths invite a beating.^(A)

⁷ The mouths of fools are their undoing,
    and their lips are a snare^(B) to their very lives.^(C)

³¹ From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom,^(A)
    but a perverse tongue^(B) will be silenced.

¹² Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious,^(A)
    but fools are consumed by their own lips.^(B)

¹⁴ The wise store up knowledge,^(A)
    but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.^(B)

¹⁰ Whoever winks maliciously^(A) causes grief,
    and a chattering fool comes to ruin.

¹³ To fear the Lord^(A) is to hate evil;^(B)
    I hate^(C) pride and arrogance,
    evil behavior and perverse speech.

¹² A troublemaker and a villain,
    who goes about with a corrupt mouth,
¹³     who winks maliciously with his eye,^(A)
    signals with his feet
    and motions with his fingers,^(B)
14     who plots evil^(C) with deceit in his heart—
    he always stirs up conflict.^(D)
15 Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant;^(E)
    he will suddenly^(F) be destroyed—without remedy.^(G)
