¹⁰ And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all ^(A)the people. ¹¹ For ^(B)unto you is born this day in ^(C)the city of David ^(D)a Savior, who is ^(E)Christ ^(F)the Lord. ¹² And ^(G)this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby ^(H)wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel ^(I)a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

¹⁵ When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” ¹⁶ And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby ^(O)lying in a manger. ¹⁷ And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. ¹⁸ And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. ¹⁹ But ^(P)Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.

⁵ And ^(A)night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp ^(B)or sun, for ^(C)the Lord God will be their light, and ^(D)they will reign forever and ever.

²³ And the city ^(A)has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for ^(B)the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

⁸ But now for a brief moment favor has been shown by the Lord our God, to leave us a ^(A)remnant and to give us a ^(B)secure hold^[a] within his holy place, that our God may ^(C)brighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our slavery.
