¹⁵ Good sense wins favor,
    but the way of the faithless is their ruin.^[a](A)

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
    they do not know what they stumble over.^(A)

⁴ Then you will find favor and high regard
    in the sight of God and of people.^(A)

¹⁹ Your wickedness will punish you,
    and your faithlessness will convict you.
Know and see that it is evil and bitter
    for you to forsake the Lord your God;
    the fear of me is not in you,
            says the Lord God of hosts.^(A)

¹⁰ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all those who practice it^[a] have a good understanding.
    His praise endures forever.^(A)

¹⁰ There is severe discipline for one who forsakes the way;
    one who hates a rebuke will die.^(A)

    and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.^(A)
10 For forty years I loathed that generation
    and said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray,
