¹¹ Beloved, ^(A)do not imitate evil but imitate good. ^(B)Whoever does good is from God; ^(C)whoever does evil has not seen God.

²¹ so that, ^(A)as sin reigned in death, ^(B)grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

^20 (A)The soul who sins shall die. ^(B)The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. ^(C)The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, ^(D)and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

^21 (E)“But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does ^(F)what is just and right, ^(G)he shall surely live; he shall not die. ^22 (H)None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live. ^23 (I)Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live? ^24 (J)But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? ^(K)None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for ^(L)the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die.

¹¹ For ^(A)the grace of God ^(B)has appeared, bringing salvation ^(C)for all people, ¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and ^(D)worldly passions, and ^(E)to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in ^(F)the present age,

⁷ Little children, ^(A)let no one deceive you. ^(B)Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.

²⁹ If you know that ^(A)he is righteous, you may be sure that ^(B)everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

^9 (A)walks in my statutes, and keeps my rules by acting faithfully—he is righteous; ^(B)he shall surely live, declares the Lord God.
