² A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

³⁵ For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.

²⁴ For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

⁵ A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

⁵ The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

⁶ For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

⁷ The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

³¹ Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

⁸ There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.

¹⁸ An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

¹⁵ The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
