²⁵ A generous person will be enriched,
    and one who gives water will get water.^(A)

⁷ Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
    and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover them
    and not to hide yourself from your own kin?^(A)
8 Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing shall spring up quickly;
your vindicator^[a] shall go before you;
    the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.^(B)
9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
    you shall cry for help, and he will say, “Here I am.”

⁸ But those who are noble plan noble things,
    and by noble things they stand.^(A)

²⁷ Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing,
    but one who turns a blind eye will get many a curse.^(A)

¹³ The blessing of the wretched came upon me,
    and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.^(A)
14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me;
    my justice was like a robe and a turban.^(B)
15 I was eyes to the blind
    and feet to the lame.
¹⁶ I was a father to the needy,
    and I championed the cause of the stranger.^(C)
17 I broke the fangs of the unrighteous
    and made them drop their prey from their teeth.^(D)
18 Then I thought, ‘I shall die in my nest,
    and I shall multiply my days like the phoenix;^[a](E)
