²³ The desire of the righteous ends only in good,
    but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.^(A)

⁴ Take delight^(A) in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.^(B)

¹⁶ I have not run away from being your shepherd;
    you know I have not desired the day of despair.
    What passes my lips^(A) is open before you.

²⁸ The prospect of the righteous is joy,
    but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.^(A)

¹⁷ You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted;^(A)
    you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,^(B)

⁹ My soul yearns for you in the night;^(A)
    in the morning my spirit longs^(B) for you.
When your judgments^(C) come upon the earth,
    the people of the world learn righteousness.^(D)
