¹⁸ But they lie in wait for their own blood,
They lurk secretly for their own lives.

The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

^22 (A)His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
And he is caught in the cords of his sin.
^23 (B)He shall die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

¹⁷ “Stolen^(A) water is sweet,
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
¹⁸ But he does not know that ^(B)the dead are there,
That her guests are in the depths of ^[a]hell.
