The Proverbs of Solomon

10 ^(A)The proverbs of Solomon.

⁹ Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. ^(A)I will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. ^(B)For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.

^12 (A)So Solomon sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was firmly established.

All Is Vanity

1 The words of ^(A)the Preacher,^[a] the son of David, ^(B)king in Jerusalem.

⁵ And of ^(A)all my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he ^(B)has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

³¹ For he was ^(A)wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. ^32 (B)He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, ^(C)and his songs were 1,005.

Fear God and Keep His Commandments

⁹ Besides being wise, ^(A)the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging ^(B)many proverbs with great care.
