A Father’s Example

² Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching. ³ For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine,^(A) but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear. ⁴ They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.^(B)

Demonic Influence

4 Now the Spirit^(A) explicitly says that in later times^(B) some will depart from the faith,^(C) paying attention to deceitful spirits^(D) and the teachings of demons,^(E)

⁴ For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus,^(A) whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit,^(B) which you had not received, or a different gospel,^(C) which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!
