Proverbs 3:19-27

¹⁹^(A)The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
by understanding ^(B)he established the heavens;
²⁰by his knowledge ^(C)the deeps broke open,
and ^(D)the clouds drop down the dew.

²¹My son, ^(E)do not lose sight of these—
    keep sound wisdom and discretion,
²²and they will be ^(F)life for your soul
    and ^(G)adornment for your neck.
²³^(H)Then you will walk on your way securely,
    ^(I)and your foot will not stumble.
²⁴^(J)If you lie down, you will not be afraid;
    when you lie down, ^(K)your sleep will be sweet.
²⁵^(L)Do not be afraid of sudden terror
    or of ^(M)the ruin^[a] of the wicked, when it comes,
²⁶for the Lord will be your confidence
    and will ^(N)keep your foot from being caught.
²⁷^(O)Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,^[b]
    when it is in your power to do it.

¹⁹By wisdom^(A) the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,^(B)
by understanding he set the heavens^(C) in place;
²⁰by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.

²¹My son,^(D) do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,^(E)
    preserve sound judgment and discretion;
²²they will be life for you,^(F)
    an ornament to grace your neck.^(G)
²³Then you will go on your way in safety,^(H)
    and your foot will not stumble.^(I)
²⁴When you lie down,^(J) you will not be afraid;^(K)
    when you lie down, your sleep^(L) will be sweet.
²⁵Have no fear of sudden disaster
    or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
²⁶for the Lord will be at your side^(M)
    and will keep your foot^(N) from being snared.^(O)
