¹¹När domen inte genast fälls över det onda, kommer människorna att vilja göra ännu mer ont. ¹²Men även om en syndare begår hundra onda gärningar och ändå får leva länge, så vet jag att det kommer att gå bra för dem som fruktar Gud. ¹³Det går inte bra för den onde, och hans liv förlängs inte heller likt skuggan, eftersom han inte fruktar Gud.

Ecclesiastes 8:11-13

New International Version

¹¹When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong. ¹²Although a wicked person who commits a hundred crimes may live a long time, I know that it will go better^(A) with those who fear God,^(B) who are reverent before him.^(C) ¹³Yet because the wicked do not fear God,^(D) it will not go well with them, and their days^(E) will not lengthen like a shadow.

¹¹Because ^(A)the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, ^(B)the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil. ¹²Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and ^(C)prolongs his life, yet I know that ^(D)it will be well with ^(E)those who fear God, because they fear before him. ¹³But it will ^(F)not be well with the wicked, neither will he prolong his days like ^(G)a shadow, because he does not fear before God.
