Allt har sin tid

3 Allt har sin tid, allt som sker under himlen har sin stund.
²Födas har sin tid
    och dö har sin tid,
plantera har sin tid
    och rycka upp det som planterats har sin tid.
³Dräpa har sin tid,
    och hela har sin tid.
Bryta ner har sin tid,
    och bygga upp har sin tid.
⁴Gråta har sin tid,
    och le har sin tid.
Sörja har sin tid,
    och dansa har sin tid.
⁵Kasta bort stenar har sin tid,
    och samla ihop stenar har sin tid.
Ta i famn har sin tid
    och avhålla sig från famntag har sin tid.
⁶Söka upp har sin tid,
    och tappa bort har sin tid.
Förvara har sin tid,
    och kasta bort har sin tid.
⁷Riva sönder har sin tid,
    och sy ihop har sin tid.
Tiga har sin tid,
    och tala har sin tid.
⁸Älska har sin tid,
    och hata har sin tid.
Krig har sin tid,
    och fred har sin tid.

⁹Vad vinner då den som arbetar med sitt slit? ¹⁰Jag såg den möda Gud har gett människors barn att sträva med. ¹¹Allt har han gjort skönt i sin tid. Också evigheten har han lagt i människornas hjärtan. Ändå kan de inte förstå Guds verk, från begynnelsen till änden. ¹²Jag insåg att det inte finns något bättre för dem än att vara glada och göra gott så länge de lever. ¹³Och när en människa äter och dricker och finner glädje i sin möda, då är det en Guds gåva. ¹⁴Jag insåg att allt det Gud gör består för evigt. Till det kan inget läggas, och från det kan inget dras. Så har Gud gjort för att man skall frukta honom. ¹⁵Det som är, fanns redan förut. Det som kommer att ske, skedde också tidigare. Gud kallar på det förflutna.

Människans förgänglighet

¹⁶Vidare såg jag under solen: På domarsätet rådde ogudaktighet, på rättfärdighetens plats den ogudaktige. ¹⁷Då tänkte jag: Både den rättfärdige och den ogudaktige skall Gud döma. Det finns en tid för allt som sker och allt som görs. ¹⁸Jag tänkte: För människornas skull sker detta, för att Gud skall pröva dem och för att de skall se att de i sig själva är som djuren. ¹⁹Ty det går människors barn som det går djuren, det går dem alla lika. Den enes död är som den andres. Alla har de samma livsande. Ja, människorna har inget att komma med framför djuren. Allt är förgängligt. ²⁰Alla går till en och samma plats. Alla har blivit till av stoft, alla vänder åter till stoft. ²¹Vem vet om människornas ande stiger uppåt eller om djurens ande far ner under jorden?

²²Jag såg att inget är bättre för människan än att hon gläder sig i sin gärning, ty det är hennes del. Vem kan föra henne tillbaka, så att hon får se det som skall ske efter henne?

　神规划万事叫人敬畏他

3 万事都有定期，天下万务都有定时：

²生有时，死有时；

栽种有时，拔出所种的也有时；

³杀戮有时，医治有时；

拆毁有时，建造有时；

⁴哭有时，笑有时；

哀恸有时，踊跃有时；

⁵拋掷石头有时，堆聚石头有时；

拥抱有时，避免拥抱有时；

⁶寻找有时，舍弃有时；

保存有时，拋弃有时；

⁷撕裂有时，缝补有时；

静默有时，讲话有时；

⁸爱有时，恨有时；

战争有时，和平有时。

⁹作工的人在自己的劳碌上得到甚么益处呢？ ¹⁰我看　神给予世人的担子，是要他们为此烦恼。 ¹¹他使万事各按其时，成为美好；他又把永恒的意识放在人的心里；虽然这样，人还是不能察觉　神自始至终的作为。 ¹²我晓得人生最好是寻乐享福， ¹³人人有吃有喝，在自己的一切劳碌中自得其乐；这就是　神的恩赐。 ¹⁴我知道　神所作的一切，都必永存，无可增添，无可减少；　神这样作，为要使人在他面前存敬畏的心。 ¹⁵现在有的，先前就有；将来有的，早已有了；因为　神使已过的事重新出现（“使已过的事重新出现”直译是“寻找被追赶的”）。

　神的审判都有定时

¹⁶我在日光之下又看见：审判的地方有奸恶，维护公义的地方也有奸恶。 ¹⁷我自己心里说：“　神必审判义人和恶人，因为各样事务、各样工作都有定时。” ¹⁸我自己心里说：“至于世人，　神要试验他们，使他们看见自己与牲畜无异。 ¹⁹因为世人所遭遇的与牲畜所遭遇的，都是一样：这个怎样死，那个也怎样死，两者的气息都是一样，所以人并不胜于牲畜。一切都是虚空。 ²⁰大家都到一个地方去，都出于尘土，也都归回尘土。 ²¹有谁知道人的灵是往上升，牲畜的魂（“魂”的原文与“灵”〔3:21〕和“气息”〔3:19〕相同）是下降而入地呢？” ²²因此我看人最好是在自己所作的事上自得其乐，因为这也是他的分；谁能使他看见他自己死后的事呢？

3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

²A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

³A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

⁴A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

⁵A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

⁶A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

⁷A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

⁸A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

⁹What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

¹⁰I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

¹¹He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

¹²I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

¹³And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

¹⁴I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

¹⁵That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

¹⁶And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

¹⁷I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

¹⁸I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

¹⁹For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

²⁰All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

²¹Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

²²Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
