19 ^(A)Better is a poor person who ^(B)walks in his integrity
Than a person who is perverse in ^[a]speech and is a fool.
²Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge,
And one who hurries ^[b]^(C)his footsteps ^[c]errs.
³The ^(D)foolishness of a person ruins his way,
And his heart ^(E)rages against the Lord.
⁴^(F)Wealth adds many friends,
But a poor person is separated from his friend.
⁵A ^(G)false witness will not go unpunished,
And one who ^(H)declares lies will not escape.
⁶^(I)Many will seek the favor of a ^[d]generous person,
And every person is a friend to ^(J)him who gives gifts.
⁷All the brothers of a poor person hate him;
How much more do his ^(K)friends abandon him!
He ^(L)pursues them with words, but they are ^[e]gone.
⁸One who gets ^[f]wisdom loves his own soul;
One who keeps understanding will ^(M)find good.
⁹A ^(N)false witness will not go unpunished,
And one who declares lies will perish.
¹⁰Luxury is ^(O)not fitting for a fool;
Much less for a ^(P)slave to rule over princes.
¹¹A person’s ^(Q)discretion makes him slow to anger,
And it is his glory ^(R)to overlook an offense.
¹²A ^(S)king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion,
But his favor is like ^(T)dew on the grass.
¹³A ^(U)foolish son is destruction to his father,
And the ^(V)quarrels of a wife are a constant dripping.
¹⁴House and wealth are an ^(W)inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the Lord.
¹⁵^(X)Laziness casts one into a deep sleep,
And ^[g]a lazy ^[h]person will suffer hunger.
¹⁶One who ^(Y)keeps the commandment keeps his soul,
But one who ^[i]is careless of ^[j]conduct will die.
¹⁷One who ^(Z)is gracious to a poor person lends to the Lord,
And He will repay him for his ^[k]^(AA)good deed.
¹⁸^(AB)Discipline your son while there is hope,
And do not desire ^[l]his death.
¹⁹A person of great anger will suffer the penalty,
For if you rescue him, you will only have to do it again.
²⁰^(AC)Listen to advice and accept discipline,
So that you may be wise ^[m]the rest of your days.
²¹Many ^(AD)plans are in a person’s heart,
But the ^(AE)advice of the Lord will stand.
²²What is desirable in a person is his ^[n]kindness,
And it is better to be a poor person than a liar.
²³^[o]The ^(AF)fear of the Lord leads to life,
So that one may sleep ^(AG)satisfied, ^[p]^(AH)untouched by evil.
²⁴The ^[q]^(AI)lazy one buries his hand ^(AJ)in the dish,
But will not even bring it back to his mouth.
²⁵^(AK)Strike a scoffer and the naive may become clever,
But ^(AL)rebuke one who has understanding, and he will ^[r]gain knowledge.
²⁶He ^(AM)who assaults his father and drives his mother away
Is a shameful and disgraceful son.
²⁷Stop listening, my son, to discipline,
And you will stray from the words of knowledge.
²⁸A worthless witness makes a mockery of justice,
And the mouth of the wicked ^[s]^(AN)swallows wrongdoing.
²⁹^[t]Judgments are prepared for ^(AO)scoffers,
And ^(AP)beatings for the backs of fools.

Colossians 2

You Are Built Up in Christ

2 For I want you to know how great a ^(A)struggle I have in your behalf and for those who are at ^(B)Laodicea, and for all those who have not ^[a]personally seen my face, ²that their ^(C)hearts may be encouraged, having been ^(D)knit together in love, and that they would attain to all ^(E)the wealth ^[b]that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a ^(F)true knowledge of ^(G)God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, ³in whom are hidden all ^(H)the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. ⁴^(I)I say this so that no one will deceive you with ^(J)persuasive arguments. ⁵For even though I am ^(K)absent in body, I am nevertheless with you in spirit, rejoicing ^[c]to see ^[d]your ^(L)orderly manner and the ^(M)stability of your faith in Christ.

⁶Therefore, as you have received ^(N)Christ Jesus the Lord, so ^[e]^(O)walk in Him, ⁷having been firmly ^(P)rooted and now being ^(Q)built up in Him and ^(R)established ^[f]in ^[g]your faith, just as you ^(S)were instructed, and overflowing ^[h]with gratitude.

⁸^(T)See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through ^(U)philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the ^(V)elementary principles of the world, ^[i]rather than in accordance with Christ. ⁹For in Him all the ^(W)fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, ¹⁰and in Him you have been ^(X)made ^[j]complete, and ^(Y)He is the head ^[k]over every ^(Z)ruler and authority; ¹¹and in Him ^(AA)you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of ^(AB)the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ, ¹²having been ^(AC)buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also ^(AD)raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who ^(AE)raised Him from the dead. ¹³And ^[l]when you were ^(AF)dead ^[m]in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He ^(AG)made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings, ¹⁴having canceled ^(AH)the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and ^(AI)He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. ¹⁵When He had ^[n]^(AJ)disarmed the ^(AK)rulers and authorities, He ^(AL)made a public display of them, having ^(AM)triumphed over them through ^[o]Him.

¹⁶Therefore, no one is to ^[p]^(AN)act as your judge in regard to ^(AO)food and ^(AP)drink, or in respect to a ^(AQ)festival or a ^(AR)new moon, or a ^(AS)Sabbath ^[q]day— ¹⁷things which are only a ^(AT)shadow of what is to come; but the ^[r]substance ^[s]belongs to Christ. ¹⁸Take care that no one keeps ^[t]^(AU)defrauding you of your prize by ^(AV)delighting in humility and the worship of the angels, ^[u]taking his stand on visions he has seen, ^[v]^(AW)inflated without cause by his ^(AX)fleshly mind, ¹⁹and not holding firmly to ^(AY)the head, from whom ^(AZ)the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ^[w]ligaments, grows with a growth ^[x]which is from God.

²⁰^(BA)If you have died with Christ ^[y]to the ^(BB)elementary principles of the world, ^(BC)why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to ^(BD)decrees, such as, ²¹“Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” ²²(which all refer ^(BE)to things destined to perish ^[z]with use)—in accordance with the ^(BF)commandments and teachings of man? ²³These are matters which do have the ^[aa]appearance of wisdom in ^[ab]^(BG)self-made religion and humility and ^(BH)severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against ^(BI)fleshly indulgence.
