Proverbs 12:28-13:9

^28 (A)In the path of righteousness is life,
    and in its pathway there is no death.
13 A wise son hears his father's instruction,
    but ^(B)a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
² From the fruit of his mouth a man ^(C)eats what is good,
    but the desire of the treacherous ^(D)is for violence.
^3 (E)Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
    ^(F)he who opens wide his lips ^(G)comes to ruin.
^4 (H)The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
    while the soul of the diligent ^(I)is richly supplied.
⁵ The righteous hates falsehood,
    but the wicked brings shame^[a] and disgrace.
^6 (J)Righteousness guards him whose ^(K)way is blameless,
    but sin overthrows the wicked.
^7 (L)One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
    ^(M)another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
⁸ The ransom of a man's life is his wealth,
