¹⁴The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the Lord shall fall therein.

¹⁴The mouth of an adulterous woman is a deep pit;^(A)
a man who is under the Lord’s wrath falls into it.^(B)

²⁷For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

²⁷for an adulterous woman is a deep pit,^(A)
and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

²⁸She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

²⁸Like a bandit she lies in wait^(A)
and multiplies the unfaithful among men.
