Philippians 4

4 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.
15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.
16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.
22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household.
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Exhortation, Encouragement, and Prayer
2 I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to (E)agree in the Lord. 3 Yes, I ask you also, true companion,[b] help these women, who have labored[c] side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, (F)whose names are in the book of life.
4 (G)Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness[d] be known to everyone. (H)The Lord is at hand; 6 (I)do not be anxious about anything, (J)but in everything by prayer and supplication (K)with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And (L)the peace of God, (M)which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned[e] and (N)received and heard and seen (O)in me—practice these things, and (P)the God of peace will be with you.
God's Provision
10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length (Q)you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be (R)content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and (S)hunger, abundance and (T)need. 13 I can do all things (U)through him who strengthens me.
14 Yet it was kind of you (V)to share[f] my trouble. 15 And you Philippians yourselves know that (W)in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, (X)no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. 16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. 17 (Y)Not that I seek the gift, but I seek (Z)the fruit that increases to your credit.[g] 18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, (AA)having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, (AB)a fragrant offering, (AC)a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. 19 And my God (AD)will supply every need of yours (AE)according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20 To (AF)our God and Father be (AG)glory forever and ever. Anweisungen für das Miteinander; Dank und Grüße (Kapitel 4)
Wie Christen leben sollen
4 Darum ermutige ich euch, meine lieben Brüder und Schwestern: Bleibt nur fest in eurem Glauben an den Herrn, so wie ich es euch geschrieben habe! Ich habe große Sehnsucht nach euch, denn ihr seid meine Freude, mein ganzer Stolz, die Menschen, die ich von Herzen liebe!
2 Evodia und Syntyche bitte ich eindringlich, sich wieder zu vertragen. Sie glauben doch beide an den Herrn Jesus Christus. 3 Vielleicht kannst du, Syzygus, mein treuer Mitarbeiter[a], den Frauen dabei helfen! Schließlich haben die beiden mit mir – Seite an Seite mit Klemens und meinen anderen Mitarbeitern – für die Verbreitung der rettenden Botschaft gekämpft. Gott hat ihre Namen in das Buch des Lebens eingetragen.
4 Freut euch zu jeder Zeit, dass ihr zum Herrn gehört. Und noch einmal will ich es sagen: Freut euch! 5 Alle Menschen sollen eure Güte und Freundlichkeit erfahren. Der Herr kommt bald! 6 Macht euch keine Sorgen! Ihr dürft in jeder Lage zu Gott beten. Sagt ihm, was euch fehlt, und dankt ihm! 7 Dann wird Gottes Friede, der all unser Verstehen übersteigt, eure Herzen und Gedanken bewahren, weil ihr mit Jesus Christus verbunden seid.
8 Schließlich, meine lieben Brüder und Schwestern, orientiert euch an dem, was wahrhaftig, vorbildlich und gerecht, was redlich und liebenswert ist und einen guten Ruf hat. Beschäftigt euch mit den Dingen, die auch bei euren Mitmenschen als Tugend gelten und Lob verdienen. 9 Haltet an der Botschaft fest, die ihr von mir gehört und angenommen habt. Richtet euch nach dem, was ich euch gelehrt habe, und lebt nach meinem Vorbild. Dann wird Gott, von dem aller Friede kommt, bei euch sein.

10 Ich habe mich sehr gefreut und bin dem Herrn von Herzen dankbar, dass es euch wieder möglich war, mich finanziell zu unterstützen. Ihr wart zwar immer dazu bereit, aber wurdet in letzter Zeit durch die ungünstigen Umstände daran gehindert.
11 Ich sage das nicht, um euch auf meine Not aufmerksam zu machen. Schließlich habe ich gelernt, in jeder Lebenslage zurechtzukommen. 12 Ob ich nun wenig oder viel habe, beides ist mir durchaus vertraut, und ich kann mit beidem zufrieden sein: Ich kann satt sein und hungern; ich kann Mangel leiden und Überfluss haben. 13 Alles kann ich durch Christus, der mir Kraft und Stärke gibt.
14 Trotzdem war es sehr freundlich von euch, mir in meiner Notlage zu helfen. 15 Ihr wisst ja, dass ich mich von keiner anderen Gemeinde als von euch in Philippi habe unterstützen lassen. Gleich von Anfang an, als ich von Mazedonien weiterzog, um die rettende Botschaft zu verkünden, wart ihr die Einzigen, von denen ich als Gegenleistung für meinen Dienst Geld annahm. 16 Ihr habt schon an meinen Lebensunterhalt gedacht, als ich in Thessalonich war, und danach habt ihr mir noch mehrmals geholfen. 17 Ich schreibe das nicht, weil ich mir weitere finanzielle Unterstützung erhoffe. Es geht mir um die Frucht, die daraus erwächst: Gott wird euch für eure Liebe und Fürsorge belohnen.
18 Ich habe alles bekommen, was mir Epaphroditus von euch überbrachte. Nun habe ich alles, was ich brauche, ja, mehr als das! Eure Gabe ist wie ein wohlriechendes Opfer, das Gott gefällt. 19 Aus seinem großen Reichtum wird euch Gott, dem ich gehöre, durch Jesus Christus alles geben, was ihr zum Leben braucht. 20 Gott, unserem Vater, gebühren Lob und Ehre in alle Ewigkeit. Amen.
