²⁷ Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

³⁰ for he nearly died^{[a] (A)}for the work of Christ, risking his life ^(B)to complete what was lacking in your service to me.

⁷ so ^(A)you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. ^(A)God is faithful, and ^(B)he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

³⁷ In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in ^(A)an upper room.

³ So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, ^(A)he whom you love is ill.” ⁴ But when Jesus heard it he said, ^(B)“This illness does not lead to death. It is for ^(C)the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

³⁹ So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to ^(A)the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics^[a] and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. ⁴⁰ But Peter ^(B)put them all outside, and ^(C)knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body ^(D)he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. ⁴¹ And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.
