¹³ You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am.

¹⁵ All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.

⁹ Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead.

² This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet^[a] acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God.

³ So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.

⁹ If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. ¹¹ As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”^{[a] 12} Jew and Gentile^[b] are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.

²² His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue.

²¹ Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.
