⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice. ⁵ Let your ^[a]forbearance be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. ⁶ In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are ^[b]honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are ^[c]of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, ^[d]think on these things.

¹⁷ Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. ¹⁹ Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto ^[a]the wrath of God: for it is written, ^[b]Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. ²⁰ But ^[c]if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. ²¹ Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
