¹⁴ In any case, it was kind of you to share my distress.

¹⁶ Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

⁷ It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because I hold you in my heart,^[a] for all of you are my partners in God’s grace,^[b] both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.^(A)

³⁴ For you had compassion for those who were in prison, and you cheerfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves possessed something better and more lasting.^[a](A)

⁶ Those who are taught the word must share in all good things with their teacher.^(A)

¹⁸ But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to consider building a house for my name;

¹⁸ They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share,^(A)

¹⁸ I have been paid in full and have more than enough; I am fully satisfied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.^(A)

⁵ Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you;^{(A) 6} they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on in a manner worthy of God,^{(B) 7} for they began their journey for the sake of Christ,^[a] accepting no support from nonbelievers.^{[b](C) 8} Therefore we ought to support such people, so that we may become coworkers with the truth.

¹⁰ Or does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was indeed written for our sake, for whoever plows should plow in hope and whoever threshes should thresh in hope of a share in the crop. ¹¹ If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we harvest material^[a] things?^(A)
